I was wondering the same thing. Usually, when the answer isn't obvious, it's about something contractual. Does he have a negotiation coming up they wanted to avoid?

Bane has 4 years left on his deal. JJJ is expiring the coming season and Memphis would likely love to resign him. But trading one of the best players away is not exactly a move that would scream long-term success. Memphis can't offer more money to JJJ than other teams, I think.  Unless Bane was a lockerroom problem.
