I would deplore a trade for Siakam that gave up OMax - no matter how favorable the other parts were to the Mavs - if the Mavs pulled the trigger without a virtual assurance from Siakam that he would re-sign. I'd still throw up in my mouth a little bit.
The thing that seems to get left out of this discussion is that if the Mavs trade for Siakam and he re-signs, you can pretty much kiss DJJ goodbye too. It actually makes more sense for the Mavs to include DJJ in the deal and hold back OMax. Theoretically, if Siakam walked in the summertime (epic fail), the Mavs could re-acquire DJJ.
