Can the mavs trade omax? Sure!
Then he can become an allstar for some other team and pummel the mavs during the next 10 seasons...and playoffs.
Is that a realistic scenario? It's still too early to know, but I'd give it a 60/40 shot at this time.
Some people say we need a team full of veterans to win NOW...at all costs. The chances of that are also 60/40.
We do need some upgrades at certain positions. Then we have a...60/40 shot at winning--now.
But if we have no youngsters or rookies in development the mavs will be a flash in the pan and drop to 40/60, or less, in a year or two.
I would rather have a 60/40 shot at being good every year, year after year, than flame out, and tank, and tank, and tank...
Disclaimer: all this is my opinion based on watching for many, many, many years of basketball, and not backed up by hard facts. I don't need no stinkin' facts.
