I sure hope it's at the minimum, and not a re-up at the BAE.

I will riot WITH you if it is more than the vet min.

Yeah, a vet-min, after the team is in place? That's one thing. Using a means that could be used to acquire someone who makes the team better is another.

If they get Oubre, which it looks like nearly everyone is against, I'm pretty sure he'll have at least 1 enemy on the team in Dodo. When Oubre was in Phoenix, he did something to piss Dodo off to the point where Dodo didn't care about getting T'd up to hip check him so hard he flew out of bounds and slid into the announce table. You never see Dodo get like this.

I think the Mavs learned the lesson the hard way by letting JJB go last year. And as @"DrMav" said, thank God we had Boban there.

But YES, on one level I HATE the idea of having Boban take the spot of a rookie....but I also know that locker room chemistry can be the difference between 1st round exit and a championship.

I'm not arguing that.

I just don't want to watch that arthritic elephant try to run up and down the court anymore. I had my hopes up it was over. I'll probably get over this one, eventually.

I just wish they hadn't made their Lowry courting so public if they were going to lose. I kind of miss the old, cloak and dagger style a bit. We're going to have to hear local (and national) fans talk for another year about how people don't want to play here, which I don't believe is the case and annoys me to no end.

I would agree with the entirety of your comment, KL, except that I am somewhat skeptical that the Mavs actually "made their Lowry courting so public" (and REAL).

Hollinger: I’ve heard a lot of different stuff, but if I had to bet on one outcome, I think it ends with an offer sheet from the Bulls that the Pelicans decide to match after Kyle Lowry signs with the Mavericks. At the end of the day, Ball is both young and good, and having him on a multiyear deal on the same timeline as Zion and Ingram is still New Orleans’ best option. Keeping him also lets them re-sign Hart and use their full mid-level exception — and hopefully build the team in a more organic way than relying on the cap-space fairy to save them.

If the Pels really want Lowry that bad, we should work something out on a Lonzo deal to bring him here and eliminate ourselves form the Lowry sweepstakes.  Win/Win.

I´ve never been convinced to pay Lowry 90/3, but admit that I would have been on board,if they had done it. It´s possible this pans out similar to not having signed Walker or D-Will.

Boban also seems tight with KP. He might be the literal glue between them. Redick also said "there are good teammates, then there are great teammates, then there is Boban." So yeah that means a little something despite his on-floor lack of contributions.

Another player I wish we could sign is Carmelo Anthony, who just interviewed Cuban on his show. He supports KP, I think he would be a great veteran presence for him and Luka. We need to KP's friends just as much as Luka, IMO.

The problem is that with Porzingis, Boban, Brown and WCS, we´d have four guys on the roster that exclusively play C.

Other teams carry one guy that qualifies as a legit center and everybody else are small ball hybrids these days.

It just makes no sense to commit four roster spots to full-fledged centers. That´s horrible. Everybody here made fun of the Pistons last summer.

But I think Boban on the court is one of the worst things to give a coach as an option. I hate it so, so much.

Now you understand my pain.

Burke needs to go. Wasted roster spot. Worse than Boban and not as close to Luka. Not even big enough to reach above the rim in case the ball is stuck above the backboard. Boban has multiple jobs. Part time locker room glue guy. Part time janitor. What is Burke doing?

I have wondered if the Mavs big push for Lowry was a round about way to try and shake Lonzo free. *shrug*

I am very interested to see if all the media "connections" of Mavs to different players was all BS, or whether it was legit.

And not one of them the type who is guaranteed to be able to flourish against playoff lineups.

As much hate as Powell gets around here, he's actually the closest on the roster to providing some type of versatility. I'm ok with them moving on from him, obviously, but if that means doubling down on playing dinosaurs, I'm not sure I'd view it as a step forward.

We'll see when the dust clears, I suppose.
