2021 FREE AGENCY: Markkanen wants out of CHI | DAL "definitely interested"
(07-27-2021, 08:47 AM)ItsGoTime Wrote: In the same vein, will Sac be looking for C help if they lose Holmes? Powell there for Bagley?

Basically if Cha snd Sac miss out on Holmes (we get him), there are then at least 3 teams in those two and Bos looking for C help. Things looking up for a Powell move!!!
Exactly! Some people on the board have said Holmes is a “better version of Powell”, so if a team loses out on the better version of Powell, why not trade for the less expensive, lesser version? In this scenario I think I’d much rather send him to Charlotte (hopefully for Graham) but because I think Powell would do well with LaMelo

I haven't followed Culver much, but he has been bad so far.   Minnesota traded up for him too.  Supposedly they wanted Garland and was surprised when Cleveland drafted him.

Culver was suppose to be the safe pick.   It doesn't always work out that way.   Minny was a young team and developing their young players, it is telling that Culver could not win playing time.  Especially since they had a few young UDFA or late second round picks get plenty of playing time.

Culver may need a change of scenery, but it is not good they are already looking to cut their loses....if the report is true.

With him having a perfect body type for today’s NBA, I wouldn’t mind buying a second (or receiving a second in trade) and picking him up as a reclamation project.

It all depends on the direction. Since Mavs are aiming for higher targets, Culver just eats 6 mil of cap space and blocks those plans. Unfortunatelly there was so little from him, that I am not sure how change of scenery would help. He doesn't defend and can't shoot.

Would you trade 3 unprotected picks for him?

Dal: SGA, worst 2023 OKC pick
OKC: 2022 FRP, 2024 FRP, 2026 FRP (and perhaps they take Powell from our books)

Without thinking twice. Just turned 23. Is a legit scorer and playmaker on good efficiency. Can create for himself and others. Can also shoot the three. Above average defender. What´s the catch? I don´t see it.
Sadly I don´t think the mentioned package would be enough to get him.

I think 3 unprotected FRP are a lot, no other catch. I said a lot, not too much. Basically Mavs would bet whole future on SGA. If things go wrong, there would not be many options left

Yes, and Brunson or Green probably too.  SGA is the perfect compliment to Luka and is only 23.

Whatever the Mav's do this offseason I hope they look for young players.  Please no Conley, Lowry.

How about young plus at least one stud vet. That's proven team building. Conley, Lowry or Dragic would meet the secondary ball handler need, and the stud vet need.

It appears the plans are beginning to come into focus.

How do they do both is the question.. either dumping salary for cap space or trading contracts to Toronto.

I would be thrilled with Lowry. Biggest free agent signing in Mavs history, it would be.

SGA must be pissed about the OKC Tankathons and want out, otherwise this report makes no sense whatsoever. How many draft picks does Presti need?

It is going to be very difficult to pull off.  They better hope Richardson opts out because teams could hold us hostage knowing we need cap space.  Will also need to move Powell or Maxi as well.   That could be challenging as well potentially.   Also would Hardaway want to come back as a heavy minute bench player?
