2021 FREE AGENCY: Markkanen wants out of CHI | DAL "definitely interested"

And spent $21+ million of their money on Spencer Dinwiddie? It could have been way worse.
We didn't make the cut but thanks for all the support!

Yeah, this is it. Thanks for the link.

Definitely the most pro-Mavericks viewpoint I've encountered, so far.

Rant starts at 15:00. Completely unhinged.

Never thought I'd see Kemba,  New York, and Elite in the same sentence
Josh Green is a top 5 Mavs player...

If he's healthy he'll be great. Will he be healthy?

It’s comical honestly. It’s so obvious that Skin is puppeting for Cuban. Hence the complete 180 Skin did on Carlisle as soon as he left.

It sure feels like they're not done to me.

Normally, we get to a point like this in the summer and everyone here is like "now, do this, this and this" and I almost never agree. But this time around, unless I am badly misinterpreting how these players are going to be used, they're either not done or Dwight Powell is penciled in for a big 20-30 minute role with no fallback plan.

Not to mention that the current state of the roster would imply big roles for either Burke, Terry or both. It's not adding up for me.

It could be that Dwight Powell as a 20-30 minute role IS the fallback plan.

I would bet a lot of money that they aren't. I already have my bet with @"cow" that DP or KP will be traded by training camp. And I bet the guard rotation is not done either.

Ok, sure.

But if so, I am unable to figure out plan A.

If Powell in a big role is the fallback, you've got either KP/Kleber starting or KP starting with two wings, probably both Bullock and DFS. I can live with either, but I don't claim to understand how the bench works without Powell in either case.

Then, who is the 3rd ball-handler? There are going to be nights when Luka tagging Brunson in won't suffice, and even when it does work out like that, there will be other nights when you want two guys like that in the game together. So, who's that 3rd guy, Burke???

I could accept that they're willing to adopt a wait-and-see approach to one of those issues, but not both.

More or less his only option. That´s the deal. Inside information in exchange for good press or playing the mouthpiece for agents, GMs and owners. Don´t expect critical journalism from those guys. They would immediately lose their access if they would start to call out Cuban and the Mavs front office.

Maybe we should call the Powell fallback plan the "nuclear-doomsday-last resort" option (which could be how they see it also).

Well, I don't want to jump on the "we hate Skin" bandwagon or anything, but I think you're even burying the lead a bit with the above, which I think applies to a lot of journalists.

In Skin's case he is literally employed by Cuban. I doubt his unique "third guy in the booth" telecast gig pays as much as his radio gig, but I'd bet my bottom dollar he really likes having it. Gotta be a dream come true for a lifelong Mavs fan, right?

Yeah, I'm with @"Kammrath" in that I think he'll be gone in a matter of days.

But the way the roster is set up right now, today, I'd say KP/Kleber/Powell are penciled in as your top 3 bigs, and Powell might be starting with KP again, even. There's your "roll man" right there.

Not the way I'd go, for a variety of reasons, but I definitely think they were on to something the season before last, before the injury. I don't think many here give him enough credit for his part in that. If I think about it, I can envision people in the Mavs' organization thinking that might work again, given how quickly he has seemed to recover from the injury.

2/3 of the main decision makers got kicked out the door, national media is getting onboard the Luka needs more help train, the KP/Reddick/JRICH trades were disasters, we still don’t have assets, Reggie Bullock is their big addition so far in the last summer of cap flexibility, but yeah, it’s OBVIOUSLY the fans who are at fault lol. Its ludicrous.

Luka leaving this mess would be reasonable. We’re one of the worst run organizations in the NBA this last decade.

Haven't listened yet, and I have no idea if he's speaking for Mark, but this is really an annual thing. Mavs Twitter and Mavs internet in general (along with the rest of the internet) gets angrier and angrier, year by year. At some point every year Skin goes off on people being impatient, unreasonable, hateful, etc. He tells stories about the hateful things people say to him, to players, etc.

I certainly wouldn't communicate like he does, but I can understand it a bit. The several pages of hateful ranting that I complained about here on the forum the other night...media folks face that kind of reddit/Twitter fandom non-stop. I don't think I could handle it. If our forum was like that much more than a couple hours at a time during intense periods, I wouldn't stick around.
