Well, I certainly think he's a good coach. No argument about that. Just seems like a super odd time to make that statement, is all.

Forgetting about the high flying targets for a while, I am thinking about another approach. What if we go for a prospect at our biggest position of need, which is center. Someone who is somehow forgotten at his current team. We need a center who is either a rim runner or can shoot and who can provide defense. I am at the point where I would be willing to give away WCS and Bobi for a second rounder if someone would take them. Powell looks really bad but I don't really think Mavs have assets to waste on getting rid of his contract.

First candidate I have in mind is Gafford from Chicago. Everytime I watched him he played great but somehow Chicago doesn't play him. He has 4 DNP in their last 6 games. Can't shoot but provides great energy and is a good PnR player. He is averaging 1.2 blocks in his 13 minutes per game. I can easily see him give what WCS does. Would he be available for a second round pick or perhaps even cash considerations?

Mo Bamba is a former 6th pick, but doesn't seem Orlando believes in him. Still, he wouldn't be cheap. Honestly, I only saw him against Dallas last year and he didn't look good. Looked lost on court, but there is a ton of potential. I doubt they would be willing to part with him for a couple of second rounders. Perhaps if we take Aminu contract. But we also don't have appropriate salary. Richardson for Aminu, Bamba and a couple of second rounders? One would really have to like Bamba to pull this one, but I just don't have a better idea. Johnson+Richardson for Aminu, Bamba and Fournier? And we throw in a couple of second rounders?

We touched Holmes before. He is expiring - can Sacramento hope he will stay with them? Bobi + a couple of second rounders sounds fair? Or perhaps we go with Powell and FRP for Holmes and Joseph?

1) be an attempt to communicate through the media

2) he seems to also imply that he is not being communicated with in the way he wants.

Like I have said elsewhere, I think the Luka+KP+RC dynamic is not working, but I have no idea exactly what/who is to blame. It's weird.

I was a little worried too until I saw something last week about how "close" Luka and KP have become.  RC can be prickly but if anything, it seems to me like he's a little too easy on Luka.  The RC and KP dynamic is the one to worry about IMO.

I wanted them to sign Holmes last time.  If not trade, I would at throw the whole MLE at him and hope that's enough.

People are questioning Ricks relevance and if a Coaching voice is needed...

I tend to think a younger Coach that is able to develop young talent is a better fit.

Stephens developed the Boston guys quite nicely.

I am not among them, but I sure don't have a cut and dried solution to what's going on now with the team.

I do think that a large chunk of literally any team's fanbase thinks their coach should be fired, though. I don't know. I've always thought Carlisle was one of the few involved with this franchise who actually did his job consistently well. I think he brought quite a bit of credibility to the franchise and Donnie Nelson, particularly, has looked much better as a result of Carlisle being here for so long, imo.

No coach lasts forever, though. If he's a problem, I'm sure he'll be fired. But, I kind of doubt he's anywhere near the top of the "actual problems" list.

- I am a big KP fan and would love it if he figured it out, was able to play 75% of regular season games and 100% of playoff games
- I am a fan of Carlisle and would love it if he was able to figure out a better way to utilize KP’s skill set and have a better defensive scheme in place, he stuck around for the bad years and now things are on the upswing again, and he always managed to get the most of of our rosters that never quite looked competitive.

Unfortunately, and I’m not trying to overreact about the trade rumors and recent struggles because there have been positive signs like Bubble KP that show it can work, but if this is a relationship that just won’t work, where does Dallas go? Do they stick with their young unicorn and his trouble-making brother/agent, or do they stick with the coach who led them to a championship and has done a good job of coaching under rated groups of talent to perform at levels above expectations?

I think it’s less about KP and Rick and more about Luka. Luka is a legit top 3 type NBA player. Higher potential than Dirk ever could dream. We need to base the decisions on what’s best for Luka. If KP being traded or Rick being fired is what is best for Luka then let’s make that choice. If we already know what that choice is then why not make it now if that’s what’s best. Mark and Donnie have my confidence

I think Luka is SOOO far beyond Tatum and Brown that I actually think the talent equation isn't that far off.

The local media guys said that was basically BS and that Luka and KP are "good" but are by no means close, especially off the court.

Do you have a clip of that? I’m curious cause I must’ve missed it but I do remember seeing that they are reportedly “close” in the BR article.

I’m trying to remember back to all the bubble pics with the Euro guys hanging out, and I feel like I remember KP being in them rarely, if at all.

I went back a bit ago and he's never in any of them.

Someone had to be the picture taker though!

I wonder if KP is "that guy" in the party?

Europe is big and KP is from Latvia. The guys on the picture called themself "Balkan Boys" for a reason. All of them are from Croatia, Serbia or Slovenia.

Hey guys, I wanna hang out with you, but KP is such a drag in here, all he wants to do is talk about his workout regimine and pokemon cards. How about we call a "Balkan boys" club meeting every day so I can just have a few moments without him saying "Pika" to everything I say to him!

My guess is the Mavs were shopping him to a few teams and now they're pissed because someone leaked it in an attempt to drive down his value. So now they might wait and hope he can build up at least some more value on the court before the trade deadline.

Speaking about the Balkan Boys, would Mia be willing to trade us Dragic at TDL?  What would that trade look like from the Mavs?  A 2 for 1 of Johnson/Brunson works money wise, but would think MIA would want better value.

I'm not sure why you'd do that?  Dragic is great and all but he's not going to move the needle on the season and Brunson is the better long term play for the team.

Marc Spears is a giant douche when it comes to European players.

Someone should do a poll and see what percentage want to keep him or want to trade him now or trade him in the offseason...
Josh Green is a top 5 Mavs player...
