DAL OFFSEASON: Trade & FA | Mavs "mostly done...but you never know."
So, the "trade up" prices might come down over the next week and end up being at an all time low, as many of us have speculated recently. However, to this point, all the rumors and posturing that I've heard/read about ANY team haven't led me to that conclusion.

It seems like EVERYONE wants to be in that 5-12 range, tbh. People do want to trade out of the top 3, for obvious reasons, but they're asking for NORMAL year top 3 prices. I guess someone might lower their price, but it seems like the people from 6-12 we've talked about are actually trying to trade UP, not down. We've taken this "weak draft, lower trade up price" and just run with it, and to this point, we don't actually have any evidence that it's actually true.

If OUR team had #10, would you guys want to trade down 8 spots for DFS?

If OUR team was trying to blow it up, go young and start over, would you guys be ok with trading CHRIS PAUL and another team getting the highest draft pick involved?

The highest pick in this trade, if it even happens, is going to end up in OKC. I don't see any possible way that's not the entire point of the deal. I'd be willing to bet money that EVERY first round pick involved goes to OKC, actually, but I'd bet my LIFE that the BEST one will.

Every single source seems to indicate the Clippers and especially Kawhii want a traditional point guard that can run the offense.

Harden in Brooklyn with Kyrie and Durant would be something else.

I am okay with Beverley here.  Being a Duffy guy, it would work.  He can be Luka's crazy protector on the court.

Only interesting stuff to me is the 10th pick and Beverley.  (Maybe Shamet)

I hate to help PHX get really good but if Houston implodes, then they can have their spot.

That would be the biggest combination of talent and weirdness ever.

I don't know whether they'd win it all or implode 20 games into the season.

This is one of those days where I might have to clear an hour to peruse Clutchfans.

If Houston blows it up, how do we get in on Covington?  I'd ship out #18 in a hurry for him.

I love Shamet but why would the Clips include him in a deal? I do like PatBev getting in people's faces when Luka gets knocked on his ass by the other team.

The Tillman hate is real.

I would probably blame him but Morey used up all the resources and then bailed.  Now he gets to play with all the Sixer assets.  When he consumes their world he will move on to new resources.  Morey doesn't have to live with his decisions, Rocket fan does.

LAC in: Rubio, DFS (one of the best performers on our series).
DAL in: Oubre, Harrell (rumors).
PHO in: Paul (main piece).
OKC in: Shamet, fillers, picks (Presti love them picks).

I do, at least for the Mavs.
DFS is basically our only true 3D guy, he has great off the ball movement and understands our system very well.
Oubre might suit some other teams better, but for us I do think he is a downgrade.

Harden to Miami will be great.
Takes Rockets out of the west, takes Miami out of Giannis choices (especially if they keep Butler & Bam) If it happens, it will be basically us and Bucks in the race for Giannis

They'll feel better after Austin Rivers signs a fat contract extension and becomes their highest paid player.

Revenge for Gerson Rosas. We got the dude paid and Harden/Westbrook got so upset about this no-name assistant that they demanded trades. Too bad Morey ran away before Cuban could call him and offer THJ, Wright, Powell for Harden as step 2.

One reason the Mavs may like Oubre (Fish has reported Mavs liked him in Washington) is that he's shown the last few years that he's a pretty decent wing in the PNR being around the 70th percentile. That's not elite by any means. But for a 24 year old wing that was pretty raw coming out? I think that's pretty good with plenty of room to improve. He definitely has good handles for a wing.

He's an improving shooter with solid form. I'd think the Mavs probably see that continuing to improve and that they can work on that a bit.

He's got the physical tools to be a really good defender. He is not yet by any means. And maybe he won't be but he's also been on bad teams that don't play defense. I think he's got the potential to actually be a plus defender if he wants to be. Again he may not want to be that type of guy.

And lastly he's very athletic and a slashing type. I'd have to think the Mavs want more of that moving forward to not rely on shooting jumpers so much. IMO the biggest thing holding Oubre back offensively is that he's not yet figured out how to really excel off ball unless he's spotting up for a shot. He's way too athletic to not be a huge threat to cutting to the basket. If you check the advanced stats in those areas, his game is completely non existent.

In a normal offseason I'd be chomping at the bit to get Oubre but it's hard to imagine a huge improvement with a shortened offseason. You don't have 3-4 months to work with him but 3-4 weeks.

RE the big CP3 rumor:

Seems like OKC wants the #10 pick and Phoenix wants to give them next year's 1st instead.  Either way, the draft pick seems to be headed to OKC from reading the tea leaves.

OKC doesnt want either Rubio or Oubre.  (Can someone explain to me if OKC has to have ~$35 million in incoming salary in a CP3 trade?)

LAC want Rubio.

So the only conclusion I can draw is Oubre to Dallas.  Dallas not getting #10.

The inclusion of DFS and/or #18 is the confusing part.  Maybe it's either/or.  We'll give up either DFS or #18 in order to get rid of a bad contract.  (Delon or Powell)  Maybe we'll give up both DFS and #18 in order to get rid of a bad contract and get Shamet back (in addition to Oubre).
