According to the article quoted, Sergio De Larrea is expected to join the Dallas Mavericks next season.
“The Dallas Mavericks’ commitment to him is completely firm because their new coach, Dusty May, considers him a guaranteed part of next season’s roster… Any possibility that De Larrea would remain with Valencia Basket has essentially disappeared.”

Maybe he'll turn into a useful bench player in a couple of years.

Sounds like he's ready to get to work and be a true NBA pro. I like it! Love the attitude of both our rookies so far. Both coming off championships too! We need some winning mentality.

After sobering up from the 1st round, I cannot explain how excited I am the Mavs got this guy.
14x All-Star, 12x all-NBA, 1x MVP, 1x Finals MVP, 1 NBA Championship: Dirk Nowitzki, the man, the myth, the legend.

What's not to like his name is Sergio? That just rolls of the tongue. I can hear the announcer yelling his name out like they used to do for Luka.
I got an old post in here somewhere mentioning we could do good to draft him so I am happy.
I think a 6'6" elite 3 point shooting Euro combo guard is a great guy to develop as the next Doncic replacement. Just learn to believe guys. It can happen.

Looks like Josh Giddey with worse ball handling but better shooting. So kind of a secondary playmaking, better shooting version.

This video was better than I thought it would be. Maybe not the very best analyst out there, but a pretty comprehensive look at the new guy:

Thanks for this. I heard a Chuck Cooperstein interview and he said you can tell what the brain trust thinks of him by what they were willing to do to move up and get him. He expects he will get time here this season. At 25, if you find a good career third guard, that's a victory. If he's ever more than that, it is quite the pick.

Per the article below:
“Any lingering doubts about his future have now been dispelled. The Dallas Mavericks want Sergio de Larrea, and—we have confirmed—the Valencia Basket player is heading to the NBA following the draft...”
They also report De Larrea will sign a 4-year deal.

Might I suggest a team option in the 4th year?

Year 3 and 4 are team options with any first round pick contract.

We're safe then. Somehow I keep thinking he was a 2nd rounder.

Exactly. I think that was probably a Cuban special so I'm glad he's no longer being consulted.

This guy has good videos. The titles on a lot of them are over the top but good dose of highlights

Donny is the one that got the blame for it.

The problem was not the contract. It was the unwillingness to offer an extension until it was way too late

How about both.
It wouldn’t have mattered how stupidly disrespectful the Mavs were if they had RFA rights.

In restrospect, RFA would not have solved anything. There's no reason to think Cuban would have matched - he put an offer on the table for JB that he thought would easily be enough, and was way outbid by NY.

I’m not at all convinced he wouldn’t have matched. A key piece of the events timeline was that Brunson took back any opportunity to match at the last minute due to a combination of hurt feelings and the opportunity to play for his dream team, with his dad on staff.
