Sources: New York traded No. 25 pick Sergio De Larrea to the Dallas Mavericks for No. 30 Koa Peat and two second-round picks. And then the Knicks traded Peat to the Phoenix Suns for three-rounders and cash. So Knicks move out of the first round -- pick up 3 seconds and cash.

Stein says something else
Marc Stein (@TheSteinLine)
ESPN says this will expand to a three-team team trade where No. 25 selection Sergio De Larrea goes to Dallas, Phoenix gets Peat as the Suns hoped and the Knicks end up collecting three future second-rounders as they work to steer clear of the second apron.

The Mavericks will acquire No. 47 and two future second-round picks for No. 30, league sources say.

My "maybe this is what happened" scenario:
1 DAL tried to get NY's pick at 25.
2 NY says we only want 2nds, nothing guaranteed, so we don't want 30. But if you can get us 2nds, and preferably not in 2026, we're on.
3 DAL - all we have is 1, at 48. How many will it take? 1-2 more, not in 2026.
4 DAL goes to PHX who offers 47 and 2 future 2nds to swap for 30. DAL - DONE.
5 DAL goes back to NY with 47 and 2 future 2nds, for 25. NY - DONE.
In which case, DAL swapped down and then back up, and in the process netted 0 from PHX, but moved from 30 to 25. HAPPY.
NY got out of round 1, with added future picks to work with. HAPPY. Just as they wanted.
PHX got pick 30, to get someone dropping, at the minor cost of their 2nd (47) and 2 2nds. HAPPY.
Shams reports that NY swapped 25 to Dallas's pick and picked up 2 future 2nds. He assumed it was 30 plus, but it was 47 plus that DAL was giving.
Meanwhile Stein reports that DAL traded 30 for 47 plus 2nds. He didn't know it was all being rerouted to NY for 25.

Man if that is how it went, I am a bit disappointed Dallas did not send NY 48 instead of 47. Now there are reports that NY is actively shopping 31. Could Dallas get back on the clock with another deal with the Knicks??

So this still has not been cleared up right? Tankathon shows the Mavs having #47 and #48.
That seems illogical but if it is true I love it.
Re Sergio: I hope he comes over. He will struggle here as a main creator but I could see him play very well here as a secondary playmaker alongside Flagg / Irving.
Seems like a promising young guard. Looks great on tape skillwise and is very tall for the position.

Re Sergio: I hope he comes over.
There is no point to draft foreign players anymore, if you want to stash them. That immediately signals that either you don´t care about the player or the player doesn´t care about the NBA and that does not change with two years in Europe. Guys how is Melvin Ajinca doing? He coming over any time soon.
De Larrea will come over immediately. No doubt in my mind. If they win the title against Barcelona, only their 2nd in team history, there is no better way to go out.

I'm sure Schmitz and Masai have had their eye on this guy for sometime given their international background.

Based on Shams, it was NY who was selling #30 to Phoenix (and separately selling 25 for 30 to Dallas). Shams also corrected his initial twit that NY is getting 5 SRPs, not just 3. I guess the unlogical and conflicting stories will clear soon

Sergio de Larrea said 10 months ago that his favorite team is the Mavs. It has been since the Dirk years
— What’s your favorite franchise?
— As a fan, I’m a Dallas fan.
— Dallas because you followed Luka Dončić?
— No, Dallas even when they were really bad, really bad. Not since I was a little kid, but whenever I played with my friends or played video games, I’d always pick Dallas.

I'm not sure we have many fans around here. I was poking around under the hood the other day and learned that most of the accounts I interact with every day are bots, JUST LIKE YOU.

I think the comparisons of this kid to Luka are dangerous, and I know many agree because everyone is carefully tiptoeing around them. However, I will say that he is similar and has a similar play style. I DON'T think that means he'll be anywhere near as good, but I DO think this is a player who will get more of a chance to succeed in the NBA and be more confident to try succeeding in the NBA as a result of Luka paving the way. There's a blueprint for how it could work that simply didn't exist before Dallas put Luka front and center of their offense...unless you count that one year of Hedo Turkoglu in Orlando.

I completely agree and it's too early to make predictions for this kid, but I like his size and skill set. If he's a hard worker, I can see him becoming a quality player in this league and hopefully a starter at some point, but I'm definitely invested in how he grows as a player.
