I have no doubt that's what Iggy wants, and if Memphis had no playoff hopes I would agree. But IMO their best move here is to make it very well known both to Iggy and to other teams that unless he's dealt now he's going nowhere until July. I see no plausible reason for Memphis to buy him out to allow him to sign with a playoff competitor.

This is kind of a bitch move. Why would Memphis care whether or not a team is on his list? They only care about making a trade. My thought is that his agent is spreading word that Iggy will only play for a handful of teams and depressing the trade market I didn't think he'd be so sorry that he wouldn't play for the Mavs like many posters think, but this news makes me doubt that now.
The NBA is out of control if NBA players with guaranteed contracts can decide to just sit because they don't like the team. I would hope the team could stop sending him checks at least. This news dampers my enthusiasm on Iggy.
Totally agree! Here is another similar take I agree with too:

I think if a player sits out over half a season for trade demands (not health) then they are not able to play the next season. That would put a stop to it!

That actually makes sense. Forget the DSJ for Monk part. That is just swapping disappointing recent draft choices.
Graham is much better than Rozier and the team plays better when he's the PG than when he's the SG. Makes sense to move on from Rozier. I'm not a Randle guy, but Charlotte is one of the worst O's in the league. At least Randle can score.
Meanwhile, the old saying is when you have 2 QB's you really have none. Probably also true that when you have four PG's you really have none. I'm not sure Rozier is the answer, but NY could really use a PG.

Houston seems to be involved in every trade rumour. Looks like Morey is preparing a first 30 team trade in history. Houston will send out Sefolosha, Chandler, Green, third assistant coach, 2 mop boys, cheerleader of your choosing and get out of jail monopoly card. After a series of shuffles Houston will receive RoCo, Thompson, Bogi, Gallo, Rose and Morris. New York gets a set of shoes signed by THJ and KP for every player while Dallas receives one of the mop boys.

Dallas still have that TE. Several teams still in the luxury tax teritory and Mavs are among those who has one of the easiest paths to help (all numbers from spotrac). However, taking players requires cutting someone. So here are the options:
Portland: still 6,3 million above tax. Could be solved by trading Whitehouse or Ariza for something cheaper or by giving away Hood + another minimum contract. They have assets to sweeten the deal.
Miami: still 4,7 million above tax line. They would love to move Johnson and Waiters, but no one would take them especially as they don't really have sweeteners to offer. Leonard for Bobi and Jackson would work for them, but would it work for Dallas? I don't really see a deal for us here.
GSW, still 3,7 above tax line. Taking Looney would work. Burks + Robinson works but we would need to clear two roster spots. Most likely they will sell two guys for picks or cash to teams with open roster spots. Unlikely we will get in the conversation again.
OKC, 0,8 above tax. Plenty of options for them, but they will certainly do something. Gift a minimum guy to someone, sell a vet while taking less money back, move Roberson for less money... Most likely I see them trading one or more of their vets and Dallas not involved.
Houston: 0,3 above tax. Will certainly do some cap jugling, but I don't see Mavs involved.

Portland is in a real bind for sure. They just got Ariza so I doubt they want to give him away. With Nurkic getting back they might want to go ahead and move Whiteside but his salary is crazy. If a team buys out a player does that get them under the tax or do they literally need to move his deal?

They need to move him. Buying him out for less than his salary would work, but why would the player want to do that.

Well, this is just for solo use of TE. If this is it, Portland seems like a valid target and we as their easiest option.
Other options are still possible. Chicago seems like a valid target if we would be willing to take some big contracts (not a lot of contenders can take large contracts). I just wouldn't expect picks from them. Porter, Valentine, Dunn, Young, Sato, Markannen could all provide help if we can extract their potential the right way. We can also take that Felicio contract in the TPE as a sweetener.
Good for them

Shams Charania of The Athletic and Stadium appeared on The HoopsHype Podcast with Alex Kennedy and reported the news, noting Knox was "included in talks." However, Charania pointed out the Knicks did not include their own first-round picks when discussing potential draft assets that would go to Golden State in a hypothetical trade.
Instead, the Knicks are "trying to put together a package of expiring players, young players and picks," outside of their first-rounders.
