TRADE: Caleb Martin + 2030 2nd to Dallas | Grimes + PHI 2nd heads to 76ers

The Sixers are now sending an additional 2030 second-round pick to Dallas as an amended aspect of Philadelphia's trade earlier this week to send Caleb Martin to the Mavericks, league sources tell @TheSteinLine
.

It is raining picks.    Mavs must have found out he had one leg in his physical.

Caleb Martin has been sidelined with a recent hip injury and was said to be nearing a return for the Sixers, but after consultation between both teams and the league office, Philadelphia has agreed to send an additional second-rounder to Dallas, league sources tell @TheSteinLine

You nailed it!

Nick legit traded for damaged goods. And gave up Grimes in the process.

@TheSteinLine Sources tell @TheSteinLine
that the full trade construction finalized today will send Caleb Martin and the 2030 second-rounder to Dallas for Quentin Grimes and a 2025 second-rounder back to Philadelphia that the Sixers previously owned and which has been traded multiple times.

We gave up the best player and pick in the trade and in exchange we got damaged goods and a shitty 2nd.

so does that mean he's further away from playing than the Mavs originally were told?

At least he is expiring and not starting a 4 year contract, right?

2030 looks like a good draft to have second round picks. At least that is what I will say until the Mavs trade this for a water boy in a few hours.

A specific timetable for Caleb Martin's
Mavericks debut has not yet been established.
League sources say Dallas does not have long-term concern about the right hip strain that has sidelined Martin but a modification to the original trade was sought after the ex-Sixer's physical.

So stein just tweeted this, and has since deleted it.

He's not "done," at least I assume he's not.

Crazy that such a premium was placed on "winning now," however, for a team that is clearly not in any shape to do so. The universe is basically screaming that if Harrison wanted make changes, the way to go was sell and keep trying to build around the YOUNGER players in the core.

I do not buy for a second the crap that Skin is selling about how SAS and OKC are about to be unbeatable. It's his job to figure out how to MAKE a Luka-led team compete with them.

Even from the grave, Cuban is screwing us over. Why did he hire this idiot?

For clarity Martin's injury is indeed a right hip SPRAIN.

Deleted the last tweet and re-posted because I incorrectly wrote "strain."

Right hip sprain.

Okay Nevermind. Thanks stein

So, is finalizing it a sign that we are done?  Or, is the addition of the second rounder something we need to be able to 'touch' a team in a multi-team trade?

I don't think you need a second rounder for that. You can just exchange cash. Utah or Toronto only dealt with one or two teams on the paper in that complex 5 team Butler trade.

So, Nico, you were able to amend the Sixers trade? Great, now do that with the Lakers trade.

Seriously, not sure why they didn't just undo the trade, or insist on the original pick not being included. They could have potentially done better. Accepting a guy who may not play for a while definitely feeds more into the tank/conspiracy/devalue-the-team-to-the-fans narratives rather than a win-now narrative.

Another huge win for Nico. This team is way worse than we were a week ago. That delusional mofo is in for a rude awakening once this team starts playing together.
