Luka Dealt to Lakers: Nico Harrison is a Basketball Terrorist

From a marketing stand point, this makes zero sense too. Luka is a mega worldwide star. AD is a great player, but I don't want to pay to go watch AD play. I'm really struggling to rationalize this trade other than the new owners just wanting to move the team to Vegas. I really may be done as a Mavs fan and I've watched since the late 80s. I hated that Luka wouldn't stay in shape, but he was special when he played. This is by the far the most disappointed I've ever been in the Mavs. I'm not sure I can come around on this one and support this shit. Say what you want about Cuban, but he NEVER would have allowed this trade.

I am saying even the best case scenario doesnt move the needle for me. I am so bummed right now.  I am in my mid 50s and this easily ranks as the worst trade I have seen in my life across all sports given that Luka never even forced their hand.  What a sht show.

Even if he did demand a trade, it´s total garbage. Butler forced the Heat´s hand and I guarantee you, they´ll get a better deal.

There must be more to it. It’s still terrible negotiating any way you look at it. That 2029 pick might turn out to be worthless. AD is a great player but injured all the time too and won’t be cheap to re-sign if that’s even the plan. If they couldn’t extract more trade value for Luka Freaking Doncic they are incompetent to the core. Like I said before, tell them we can make a deal now and you include who and what we want or we open up bidding to the entire league.

Watch Luka get into the best shape of his life with LeBron as his mentor and become the undisputed best player in the league for the next few years until Wemby ascends. Just the fact that it not out of the realm of possibility makes it a dumb trade. Joker, Giannis, Luka, Shai and Wemby. That’s the list of players that should be truly untouchable in the league today.

Bro please stop.  What are you even saying?  Who cares the Mavs initiated it? Regardless of what else they do this haul is terrible.  You don’t make up for sht trades with the next trade. They could have got much better assets. I am not sure Minny wouldn’t have traded Ant if Luka was on the table. That’s how good Luka is.  The Mavs got AD and a FRP. Rudy got 4 FRPs. Bridges got 3. 

This is if you are even ok with trading Luka now which itself should never have been on the table. He didn’t injure himself because he was partying too hard. He was playing for his national team after just having taken the Mavs to a Finals. If anything he was playing too much.

It‘s stupid every way you look at it. You can’t even blame Trump and his America First campaign, because his wife is Slovenian after all.

There must be something bigger in the making like moving the team to Vegas in 4 or 5 years - or Luka breaking down completely and being more like 35 than 25 from a body standpoint. 

But even then we could have gotten a lot more in return. Like I said in the other thread, you could think about that trade for Giannis if you‘re into defense wins championships. Or maybe for a guy like Tatum that plays both sides well. But not for a soon to be 32 year old AD.

Honestly I would take another 10 years of Luka even if I knew there would be zero championships over doing this trade. He's so special on offense and fun to watch. Plus he's clutch AF in the playoffs. That stuff can't be taught. This is really just sickening. I don't think I'll get past this one..
