Was there any negotiation? Like wheat would the Lakers have said if demanded another unprotected first and Knecht. No? Why wouldn’t we just say we are on the phone with SA. Dallas is the team trading the generational star. Isn’t it more likely Luka matures than you find another one like him when you traded a slew of future picks and swaps in the coming years?!

But I believe they got tired of watching him sitting on the bench with another injury due to his disdain for his conditioning and watching his weight. I also believe they weren't about to pay him the Super Max due to him not being serious about it either.
The team just went to the Finals and he was their best player even there. Kyrie struggled. Luka also took the team to the WCF. He is not always injured. Plus if that is the concern the AD is the worst player to get back.

Mavs aren't done. Neither are the Lakers. I could see a few other moves being made by both teams. It's shocking for sure. Lakers have no bigs now. How do they solve that? Mavs have too many.

It’s about not investing $350 million in a guy they don’t believe is dedicated.

How do you explain the paltry return then? We could’ve gotten Castle, Vassell, Keldon Johnson and 3 1st round picks from SA.

What can the Mavs get with their two number 1s they now possess and say Gafford or whoever? I'm a huge Gafford fan, but he does seem somewhat expendable now.

Mavs are done. If you know what I mean. Look at the Bulls. Organizations don’t win titles. Generational talents do. The Mavs were incredibly lucky to get Luka right when Dirk was fading. Teams like the Kings, Wizards, Knicks, Bulls have waited for ages to get a generational talent.
We had one and we just gave him to the effin Lakers of all the teams.

There's going to be all kinds of leaks that come out that will justify them trading Luka, but nothing they can say will satisfy us fans with the return they received.

who even cares at this point? Adelsons did not care about the fans so why should Mavs fans care at this point? why should they even remain to be Mavs fans?

Have the Adelsons and Nico ever heard of Steve Nash and what happened to him after Cuban threw him away?
Luka will win the evil empire three more rings before hanging it up. Not this year, but it will happen.
It will be a loooooooong time before I ever care about the NBA again.

None of those guys are helping them win this year.

I just read that Luka is no longer super max eligible per Bobby Marks. That is really fucked for Luka if so. What a kick in the nuts.

Well.. maybe it will all come out at a later date. But something led them to trade him for the 1st offer made by the Lakers. I think it was in the works all along. I mean, they didn't offer him to other teams as far as I know. Just the Lakers.

Fischer] Dallas had contacted several teams this week, looking to reroute additional salary for a potential three-team deal, sources said. A bunch of teams knew inklings about the Mavericks being close on a trade. Nobody knew it was trading Luka Doncic.

The problem is the amount of future picks they spent building around the guy they weren't willing to invest $350 million into and weren't savvy enough to get enough return to fill those holes. While they are both injured a ton, Luka is better at playing hurt than AD...to use a football turn of phrase. The trade is so bad that it makes the crazy moving to Vegas or the league always finds a way to help the Lakers conspiracy theories sound not so crazy.

Being a true fan is a huge time expenditure. I watch every game. My GF gets annoyed frequently. The playoffs take over every spring into summer. Not trying to sound all-emo, but I don't think I want to spend my precious time and emotional energy on the Mavericks franchise anymore.
I will hang around to process it but it’s kind of ruined for me. We just got out from under Cuban (Finally!) Luka does things in the court that thrill me with delight on a nightly basis, as frustrating as he can be. And he was ours! The transition from Dirk to Luka was like manna from heaven. Back to back all-time greats. I’m beyond shocked and stunned.
