Or Mavs wanted to get rid of him and identified AD as their return?

Let's say Luka demanded a trade. The return isn't enough even if he went public. I personally think AD is someone they wanted and were sick of Luka. It's still not the right move to make. I'm just sick about it to be honest. I'm in shock.

Sounds like you’re on the right track.

Don’t the Lakers have more 1sr rd pick at least?

The Mavs even threw in a 2nd rounder. Those unprotected pick and pick swap the Mavs have sent out are going to be primo. The Mavs better hope they win the lottery this year or they’ll be dead in the water for a generation. Mavs are probably moving to Vegas or something.

well this should be

2027 first round draft pick to Charlotte
Dallas' 2027 1st round pick to Charlotte protected for selections 1-2; if this pick falls within its protected range and is therefore not conveyed, then Dallas will instead convey Miami's 2028 2nd round pick to Charlotte [Charlotte-Dallas, 2/8/2024]

2027 second round draft pick to Washington or Detroit
Washington will receive the more favorable of Brooklyn's 2027 2nd round pick and Dallas' 2027 2nd round pick and Detroit will receive the less favorable of the two (via Brooklyn to Detroit; via Dallas to Brooklyn to Detroit; via Detroit to Washington) [Brooklyn-Detroit, 9/4/2021; Brooklyn-Dallas, 2/6/2023; Brooklyn-Detroit, 7/6/2023; Detroit-Washington, 7/6/2023]

2028 first round draft pick to Oklahoma City
Oklahoma City has the right to swap its 2028 1st round pick for Dallas' 2028 1st round pick [Dallas-Oklahoma City, 2/8/2024]

2028 second round draft pick to Indiana
Dallas' 2028 2nd round pick to Indiana; Indiana may convey this pick to Toronto (see Indiana Outgoing) (via Sacramento) [Dallas-Sacramento, 6/24/2022; Indiana-Sacramento, 7/6/2023]

2029 first round draft pick to Houston or Brooklyn
Houston will receive the two most favorable of its 2029 1st round pick, Dallas' 2029 1st round pick and Phoenix's 2029 1st round pick and Brooklyn will receive the least favorable of the three (via Dallas and Phoenix to Brooklyn; via Dallas or Phoenix to Houston; via Houston's right to swap for Dallas or Phoenix) [Brooklyn-Dallas, 2/6/2023; Brooklyn-Indiana-Milwaukee-Phoenix, 2/9/2023; Brooklyn-Houston, 6/26/2024]

2029 second round draft pick to Brooklyn
Dallas' 2029 2nd round pick to Brooklyn [Brooklyn-Dallas, 2/6/2023]

2030 first round draft pick to San Antonio or Minnesota (swap, San Antonio incoming)
San Antonio will receive the most favorable of its 2030 1st round pick, Dallas' 2030 1st round pick and Minnesota's 2030 1st round pick protected for selection 1; Dallas will receive the less favorable of its pick and the San Antonio pick; Minnesota will receive the less favorable of (i) its pick and (ii) the more favorable of the San Antonio pick and the Dallas pick; if the Minnesota pick falls on its protected selection, then Minnesota's obligation to San Antonio will be extinguished and San Antonio will instead have the right to swap its pick for the Dallas pick (via San Antonio's right to swap for Dallas; via San Antonio's right to swap San Antonio or Dallas for Minnesota) [Boston-Dallas-San Antonio, 7/12/2023; Minnesota-San Antonio, 6/26/2024]

2030 second round draft pick to Brooklyn
Dallas' 2030 2nd round pick to Brooklyn (via Boston to Memphis) [Boston-Dallas-San Antonio, 7/12/2023; Boston-Memphis, 2/7/2024; Brooklyn-Memphis, 7/19/2024]

2031 second round draft pick to Philadelphia
Dallas' 2031 2nd round pick to Philadelphia [Charlotte-Dallas-Denver-Golden State-Minnesota-Philadelphia, 7/6/2024]

Luka didn't demand a trade. Mavericks initiated the trade. This is a win now move obviously. This just happened. Mavericks must have really hated what Luka was about outside the game

For all the ways we hated Cuban, he would have never done anything so incomprehensibly stupid.

30 years of being a Mavs fan and... I'm out!

Wiz FRP, Sarr, Coulabaly.  Wiz would have made that deal. Why this? Anthony Davis is more hurt than Luka and 7 years older
