Absolutely.

But to eat 23mil of dead space a year, for FIVE years, is insanity. I don't think a team has ever carried that much debt ever. And I'm not sure how they can really build a competitive team moving forward with a 85% handicap and hardcaps existing. 

Is that really worth it?

This debt is indeed a killer but to me it is obvious. Ride Giannis and Miles and whoever you can get this year and maybe 2 years and maybe a desperate 3rd year. At some point it is cheap to do a multi year tank.

Summer, yes.  But, in the end, they are doing things to try to make Trae Young work (and hoping from health from someone more injury prone than AD).  At least the latter part only comes with a one year commitment...so far.  I'm not sure I'd want to be the team that has to extend Young (or pay KP if that is the plan).  I'll note that so far they haven't done either.

I´ll say something in Milwaukee´s defence.

Lillard will be 36, when he returns from the Achilles injury with an unknown sort of ability left. By that time Giannis will be 32. He´s missed games frequently over the past few seasons with minor injuries. So thath window is rapidly closing.

You know which 12 months window in the East has just opened? The Hali-Tat Tankathon Stakes.

In other words there is no overwhelming favourite in the East right now and if there is another chance for the Bucks to compete it is this year. Are there about 7-8 teams in the Least that legitimately feel they can win it next season and the Bucks are likely one of them.

Yeah, as crazy as what they did seemed...I'm not sure what they could've done differently. Really can't wait around for a year with a 31-32 year old Giannis hoping Lillard comes back and shows enough for you to dump him. They weren't going to be able to trade that contract until right before it expired, if ever.

I don't think Turner can be your second best player on a contender. He is that currently wth the Bucks. I am not sure he can be a third. Maybe he can be your fourth?

The Bucks were in a sucky spot though. Some to their inability to screw up on draft picks. Supposedly they worked out Nemhard twice in that draft, but decided to draft an G league Ignite guy who may be out of the league shortly. Supposedly Nembhard has not forgotten and loves sticking it to the Bucks.

What do you do if you are the Bucks though. I don't think you trade Giannis until he tells you to. So you either try to make something work or just wait for the inevitable. When that comes it will be a long rebuild whether you are paying Lillard 22 millon or not.

I am not sure they can do anything to make them a contender again. They really need to hit on a fallen star like the Mavs did with Kyrie and the Clippers sort of did with Harden. In a funny turn of events, I liked their rookie last year in AJ Johnson. REally raw. They may have been in a better position if they kept Johnson and Middleton with one year left on his contract instead of gambling on Kuzma.

I'm not sure about this, either. But, I think he is very close to ideal as a front court partner to Giannis. The fit between those two is a dream. 

I wouldn't be surprised if we learn they did this because Giannis asked for Turner, specifically.
