RE: ROSTER TALK: Mar 25 TDL | DAL interested in Collins, AG, Norman Powell - HanspardShowerVoice - 03-22-2021 Counter #1: Playing in Orlando probably really sucks, and why wouldn't he want some say over where he plays. Counter #2: What was Shawn Marion's reputation in Toronto and Miami? Nah -- I think the guy just doesn't want to stay in Orlando or be traded to Houston. Who does? However, the report is about him going to a high profile NBA city. That could be a mis-quote, or him not putting out there what he actually means in that he wants to go to a team that is winning right now. That would explain why no Houston, cause in all honesty, Hou is a higher profile NBA city than Dal is. I know this has been brought up before but I do not remember Shawn Marion having a bad reputation. He was the third banana in Phoenix for a long long time and was known as a guy that would play defense and get fed by Nash. Most importantly, he was in his 30s when he came to the Mavs. He'd already had his years putting up big numbers. Maybe he turns it around here. I'm not completely against it but there's no way I'd trade Maxi + other stuff to get Gordon. Even Brunson would be tough for me unless we have a replacement lined up. Maybe a DFS + Josh Green/Tyrell Terry type package. RE: ROSTER TALK: Mar 25 TDL | DAL interested in Collins, AG, Norman Powell - cow - 03-22-2021 As for Gordon, I'm not sure he moves the needle enough for what you'd have to pay for him. (03-22-2021, 02:33 PM)Thukydides Wrote: Just not enough sellers out there. Won't get AG without Brunson and Maxi, Won't get Collins without KP. I said it before, get sth done around KP-collins/gallo. Don't think AG is worth giving up maxi and brunson. If you want to keep KP, just do a minor move for Fournier or look at Oladipo. Houston wants a FRP+ for Oladipo. No thanks. I agree they are looking for way too much for him. If he does go for a good amount less than reported, I want him here. He's an upgrade to Maxi IMO. RE: ROSTER TALK: Mar 25 TDL | DAL interested in Collins, AG, Norman Powell - Tyler - 03-22-2021 (03-22-2021, 03:38 PM)Jason Terry Wrote: The Great Reset I've thought about something similar. KP/Brunson/Powell/Johnson for Vucevic/Gordon/Fournier KP gets to be the scoring alpha, Brunson would start at the point (Fultz could potentially be a long-term 2), and a future frontcourt of KP/Isaac would be pretty fun in a lanky 2-way unicorn kinda way. Powell would also fill in Gordon's minutes. Orlando gets younger and saves a ton of money. In Dallas, a frontcourt rotation of Vucevic/Gordon/Maxi would be pretty killer offensively. And a backcourt overflowing with guys like THJ, Fournier, and JRich would be super deep and athletic. I love KP, but I don't hate that alternative. RE: ROSTER TALK: Mar 25 TDL | DAL interested in Collins, AG, Norman Powell - ItsGoTime - 03-22-2021 (03-22-2021, 04:06 PM)Tyler Wrote: I've thought about something similar. As far as Vuc being our C, I'm with KL on his thought of the C be the defensive anchor requirement. The exceptions to that rule for me is guys like Isaacs or Giannis type players. If we can get Vuc and Isaacs for KP, I'm all ears. Since that is far from happening, I'd prefer another route. RE: ROSTER TALK: Mar 25 TDL | DAL interested in John Collins, AG, Norman Powell - omahen - 03-22-2021 Further from the Athletic blog: Nuggets, Mavs looking for wing help The Nuggets and Mavericks are looking for wing help. Both clubs are offering second-round picks. In the Mavericks’ case, James Johnson’s contract ($16 million, expires at season’s end) is being offered to make salaries work in a potential deal. The Nuggets are doing the same with Gary Harris. Harris, a former cornerstone for the Nuggets, has dealt with a bunch of injuries and has otherwise struggled over the past few seasons. His number for this season is $19.1 million, but he’s under contract for next season at nearly $20.5 million, too. — Joe Vardon RE: ROSTER TALK: Mar 25 TDL | DAL interested in John Collins, AG, Norman Powell - omahen - 03-22-2021 Thinking about the trade market. Tier A contenders (both LA teams, Brooklyn) are out of assets as it is. Philly is the only exception. Phoenix and Utah seem happy with what they have. So it mainly comes down to that a bit above average pack of Miami, Denver, Boston, Portland, Dallas and many more. They all need upgrades but I guess none of those will really break the bank for the likes of Gordon, Fournier and Powell who come as third best guys on contenders in most optimistic scenarios. I guess sellers might play chicken till the deadline and then choose best offer or one of the buyers offers a bit more before Thursday and seller secure the bag. The offers we have seen so far are not really mind blowing. RE: ROSTER TALK: Mar 25 TDL | DAL interested in John Collins, AG, Norman Powell - omahen - 03-22-2021 How about this combined idea?: Dal: Gordon, Gary Harris Den: JRich Orl: Johnson, 2021 Den FRP, Green RE: ROSTER TALK: Mar 25 TDL | DAL interested in John Collins, AG, Norman Powell - Time Machine Dirk - 03-22-2021 Why on earth would Denver pay a FRP and Gary Harris to get expiring JRich? Doesn't Harris make $19m this year and another $20m NEXT year? I think a FRP is acceptable - especially since it will be late in the draft RE: ROSTER TALK: Mar 25 TDL | DAL interested in John Collins, AG, Norman Powell - omahen - 03-22-2021 (03-22-2021, 06:22 PM)Time Machine Dirk Wrote: Why on earth would Denver pay a FRP and Gary Harris to get expiring JRich? In short - Denver improves now and saves tomorrow: 1. JRich is considerably better 2. Harris will make 20 mil next season. Keeping JRich will likely be cheaper and he is still a better player RE: ROSTER TALK: Mar 25 TDL | DAL interested in John Collins, AG, Norman Powell - omahen - 03-22-2021 Interesting https://twitter.com/TheNBACentral/status/1374142489045647360 RE: ROSTER TALK: Mar 25 TDL | DAL interested in John Collins, AG, Norman Powell - vfromlmf - 03-22-2021 I reserve the right to change my mind but if I were GM and had to make a decision on the spot I'm dealing James Johnson and a 2nd for Evan Fournier. Fournier is a very underrated player and would immediately help this team. A real pro -- as good or better than THJ. This team needs shooting & playmaking and Fournier is an excellent fit. Brunson - Fournier - THJ gives you fantastic scoring punch off the bench and I'd bet one of THJ or Fournier would be on the floor to close playoff games. Just play the one who's hot. Or play both. Fournier can also make a play. He's excellent coming off screens. He has a good handle and could actually see him running a two-man game with KP to get to his mid-range jumper, a little like JET. He's a veteran who's been the top target of opposing scouting reports and is usually guarded by the opponent's best perimeter defender. But he's still efficient. He's a solid defender. Not a stopper but good on closeouts. Generally plays smart and has been a starter on a playoff team with a defensive identity. I honestly don't know why people aren't talking more about him. Maybe it's because he's not a flashy player. Or maybe it has to do with playing in Orlando, or because he's French or maybe it's his haircut. I don't get it. He's 28 so he's not young but he has plenty left in the tank. As of today, Fournier is my top target.* * assuming Collins, Gordon et al are out of the Mavs price range :-) RE: ROSTER TALK: Mar 25 TDL | DAL interested in John Collins, AG, Norman Powell - ClutchDirk - 03-22-2021 https://bleacherreport.com/articles/2937467-ranking-every-nba-team-by-its-trade-asset-war-chest Mavs ranked 26th out of 30...
