Brunson: 93.5 percentile

Agree that Ball isn´t a great pull up shooter or finisher at the rim but his passing is on another level compared to Brunson or Richardson. Not to mention that Ball would be a big upgrade as a 3&D off ball guard as well. As of now he is shooting 39.7% from 3 on 7.7 attempts. That´s slightly better than THJ.

The great thing is that it wouldn´t be a one or the other situation. Ball is 6´6 and could play next to Brunson as well. 3&D guard next to Luka. Main ballhandler when Luka is on the bench. I am not the biggest fan of Brunson the decision maker and PG. I am a big fan of Brunson the scorer. I think a player like Lonzo that distributes the ball would be a good fit next to him. Certainly better than Burke (another score first waterbug guard).

When I watch Ball I just don't get it. Maybe if I saw more Pels games I would see it but I see him bring up the ball and make one pass then not really do much after that. Somehow he has okay assist numbers so I guess he is doing something. I am not really seeing him do PnR or break guys off the dribble so I don't get it.

Bottom line I don't think the Mavs will be in the hunt for Lonzo bc they wouldn't give him the assets it would take to get him.

I love Seth, and I loved when he signed here again (though a lot of Mavs fans trashed it).  But the main issue is I have with him is constant injuries.    They're never anything major that draw headlines like a torn ACL or blown achiellies like with KP, but it's just always something.    That's why the Mavs didn't lock him up his first go around.  It popped up again last year in the bubble in the Clippers series.   He's having nagging ankle issues in Philly.   Phenomenal player who has always got overshadowed by his superstar sibling, but good luck counting on him through an extended playoff run.

That's because they have slowly but surely taken primary PG responsibilities away from him. He's an off-guard now.

I don't mean that as a criticism of him, really. He shoots off of the catch well and plays good defense. And, whether you can win with him as your primary PG or not (I say no), just the fact that he has played that position all of his life means that he's more than qualified to be the SECONDARY creator on the floor, imo.

He probably would be a significant upgrade from Richardson, tbh, and in the exact role Richardson has had here this year. But, I just can't get there. If I run an NBA team I just don't want anything to do with that family.

But Reddick is 87 years old and he won't really improve Mavs to make them contender. So why wasting an asset on him (no way Pelicans take straight Johnson-Reddick swap)? If you want 10 minutes per game shooter, why not Iwundu+2nd rounder for Mikhayluk?

And btw - what is wrong with Burke as 10 mpg emergency back-up shooter?

I don't know, I just don't see it. DFS plays 31 minutes per game because we don't have many defenders who are not total liability on offense. JRich is second best defender, also playing 31 minutes. Reddick can't replace any of them, if you want to play defense. THJ plays 29 mpg, Brunson 25 mpg and Luka 35 mpg. This is 150 minutes, while only 144 are available on positions 1-3.

That's one thing we can absolutely mark down in the pros column for Richardson: AVAILABILITY (except when contagious viruses are a thing).

Seth is a top shooter but his position is totally different in Philly than it would be with Mavs. He has 4 great defenders covering for him there. He would not have that luxury in Dallas and the offenses of good teams would just pick him (and they did pick him). If Mavs wanted to build a contender, they needed better defenders and Seth is not that. As good as a shooter he is.

Not interested in Matthews, so it depends on the asset. And the Lakers are pretty thin.

The only guy I can think of is Talen Horton-Tucker, who is an impending RFA and has been hyped as someone who could get a decent offer. If Dallas likes him, acquiring his RFA rights early could be worth a minor deadline deal.

Matthews is just salary filler as Lakers are in hard cap vicinity and there is no way they take more salary back. Thats who I had in mind, but I guess Lakers would be selling him higher. Not a three point shooter though.

This screams to me as the Mavs playing 3rd team, and sending out one of their current guards for him. JRich is the most likeliest because of his poor shooting.

Maybe it's just James Johnson as a salary filler.

What do you guys think of this trade?

I don't like it. Neither Bledsoe nor Reddick improve our guard rotation as long as you are not trading at least two of the current rotation. Besides Cleveland and Toronto would require some serious picks to make that deal.

RE: ROSTER TALK: Mar 25 TDL | Marc Spears: Mavs are shopping KP - StepBackJay - 03-03-2021

I like Reddick a lot if you can get him for a 2nd round pick. I would suspect lots of teams would like another shooter on their team. He is a career 40% 3 point shooter and so that would definitely be useful. He would probably be stealing Burke's minutes most nights but he could dip into THJ's for example when THJ is throwing up bricks. That's what used to happen with Curry when he was here. Set would steal minutes from THJ when he was hot and THJ wasn't.

Can we construct a deal with Orlando for Gordon?

Another intriguing 4 team deal I am playing with: KP+Brunson for Collins+Ball+Zubac

LAC: Brunson, Rondo
Atl: KP
NO: 3 second rounders from Clippers, Huerter, Dal FRP
Dal: Zubac, Collins, Ball, Snell

Doncic out vs Thunder ... or in other words,
Mavs to showcase everyone not named Doncic prior to ASB

Maybe it's just James Johnson as a salary filler.

Seems like there is just a easy simple clean trade of Johnson + 2nd round pick -> Reddick.  Which is essentially just a 2nd for Reddick considering Johnson has played a grand total of 5 minutes in the last 2 games combined.

If that's the deal, I don't see the harm. One is an expiring contract who might help on the court a little, the other is just an expiring contract.

If they listen to Reddick on his preferred destination though, I doubt it will be Dallas. There will be at least one actual contender who needs shooting I bet.

I am hopeful that J Rich is still going through the process of learning the ways of a new team, and will look a lot better by the end of the season. If he doesn't, though, it is hard for me to see the Mavs wanting to keep him if they don't have to.

His on/off is TERRIBLE this year for LAC, but I would love to try to buy low on him.

Zubac is 64 percentile as the roll man....93 percentile on defending the roll man...97 percentile defending the post.

RE: ROSTER TALK: Mar 25 TDL | Marc Spears: Mavs are shopping KP - HanspardShowerVoice - 03-03-2021

On one hand JJ Redick's 3P% is pretty significantly down from his career averages and you wonder whether if he is losing his legs.    On the other hand,  Eric Beldsoe and Kira Lewis are setting the table for him.   It's a really weird team.
