RE: ROSTER TALK: Mar 25 TDL | DAL has had interest in Aaron Gordon since Nov - StepBackJay - 03-19-2021 (03-19-2021, 07:23 AM)omahen Wrote: - second option is to turn Johnson into good expiring player like OPJ for example. Someone you would like to resign I wish we would do that. He seems very gettable. We clearly need an upgrade over DFS or THJ or both. I could also see a S&T for OPJ in the offseason. OPJ does things that DFS and THJ do but does them in one player. So you could roll out Luka, Rich, OPJ, Maxi, KP as your closing lineup. Even if you don't keep Dipo this summer, you've cleared Powell and have House as a bench wing for a year. I think this is a very good option if you don't believe you can get Collins or Ball now and if you believe you can play Richardson and Oladipo together. Btw - the deal also includes a first from Dallas, not just the second (03-19-2021, 08:28 AM)StepBackJay Wrote: I wish we would do that. He seems very gettable. Trade machine will allow OPJ in and Johnson and Powell out as a match for the $28m of OPJ with Powell going on to the Knicks for air. I’d certainly approve that. It might require a 2nd to CHI and removal of the pick protection for NY. If OPJ isn’t hurt, which seems rare, he’s quite superior to DFS. That takes me out of such a deal for a guy who can walk (and isn't playing particularly well). I like the Gafford twist given the fact OPJ is no sure thing to return. I'm trying to decide what use Chicago might have for Powell. I'd also be interested in some kind of Ball for JRich deal, but does Dallas want to deal with Dad AND Rich Paul? Two firsts to Sacramento (Maybe its just me, but two firsts seems slightly better than Justin Jackson)It is. I said it at the time and still believe it, we should have gotten JJ and Giles. That was the trade, even if they both don't pan out, you had the chance at 1 of 2 young guys to be better than they were showing in Sac. RE: ROSTER TALK: Mar 25 TDL | DAL has had interest in Aaron Gordon since Nov - vfromlmf - 03-19-2021 I love Powell for Dinwiddie RE: ROSTER TALK: Mar 25 TDL | DAL has had interest in Aaron Gordon since Nov - Hypermav - 03-19-2021 (03-19-2021, 08:24 AM)DanSchwartzgan Wrote: This time Hollinger with Cato. What should the Mav's do? Hollinger: I think Dallas will be active at the low end, whether it’s trading second-rounders or working the buyout market to get a crack at the Wayne Ellingtons and Garrett Temples of the world. Another name I’d keep my eye on, albeit at a higher cost, is San Antonio’s Patty Mills. Hollinger: If one presumes the Mavs had the best offer on the table when the trade with the Knicks happened, then I’m not sure what’s happened since then that would alter Porzingis’ trade value for the better. Yes, he’s back on the court and playing, but the injury questions aren’t going away unless we see him sustain this through the second half of the season and playoffs, and he’s now on a max contract. So somebody else is going to offer more than that today? I think that’s pretty unlikely. Now if Porzingis is the entry point to getting a top-15 player, that’s a different story. But until or unless Bradley Beal lands on the trade market, I don’t see that happening. So Porzingis deals don’t seem to make any sense. *** I like the Lowry idea for the short term. What should the Mav's do? Of all the things I've heard suggested, I think this is the one that intrigues me the most. But if you bring in HomeDepot (which is how it sounded when the announcer said it when he first got to Orlando), what do you do with Josh Richardson? I'm not taking Maxi or Dorian out of the starting lineup. I think this forces JRich to the second unit and puts Trey Burke on the bench forevermore....which, the way he's playing right now, doesn't hurt my feelings one bit. Not sure how JRich would handle the change though. RE: ROSTER TALK: Mar 25 TDL | DAL has had interest in Aaron Gordon since Nov - StepBackJay - 03-19-2021 I think DFS isn't a long-term answer at starting SF. If you had Dipo you could start him and J Rich together. I don't think Mavs are in on Dipo talks. I imagine he will go to NYK or some place like that that is willing to give up more for him. I also wonder ab a team like the Clippers who paid Luke Kennard 60 mil+ to sit on the bench and not play - they could probably flip him for Dipo or another player they like better. Definitely makes sense and is well worth a 2nd rounder imo to shore up your rotation for the back half of the year and into the playoffs. IMO that's a faulty assumption. There was a lot more going on that influenced the Knicks' thinking at the time beyond the immediate trade return. At the very least, maybe he should also apply the same logic to his proposed Barnes deal. RE: ROSTER TALK: Mar 25 TDL | DAL has had interest in Aaron Gordon since Nov - Chicagojk - 03-19-2021 Patty Mills is a killer. If SA is willing to move him, they may be able to get a nice asset for him. He is just a difference maker off the bench and could impact a game in a playoff environment. I don't really see him ending up in Dallas though. Really good player. RE: ROSTER TALK: Mar 25 TDL | DAL has had interest in Aaron Gordon since Nov - HanspardShowerVoice - 03-19-2021 I'm still trying to figure out what exactly the Clippers have for trade assets, because every trade proposal I've seen on the internet regarding the Clippers involves some "Team inexplicably gives Clippers a really good player for the zombie corpse of Lou Williams, Expensive Old One Legged Patrick Beverly and a 2nd round pick" scenario. RE: ROSTER TALK: Mar 25 TDL | DAL has had interest in Aaron Gordon since Nov - StepBackJay - 03-19-2021 Dinwiddie would be nice but I wouldn't give up anything more than JJ + a 2nd for him considering he's an FA and also injured. Another team might have an extra role player they aren't using that the Nets find useful. Dinwiddie is a buy-low opportunity though. I don't think Mavs want a center that expensive bc it means you either need to start him or "overpay" him to be your center off the bench. The only scenario I like is one where we ship off Powell's money and you live with Adams being basically an overpaid 6th man big. The other advantage with a guy like Adams is that if KP is sitting or injured you can still have a good offense by just sliding him into the starting lineup. |
