IF he can ever become a starter

Im going about 30-40% chance

Feel like people are really jumping the gun about his defense being NBA ready. He’s not going to face and pick and roll coverage on savvy veteran guards in summer league. He offers paint protection but I don’t think the rest of his defense is NBA ready.
Finally got to watch the game and I’m claiming trademark on #FreeOMax before anyone else can because that debate is definitely going to be all over this board this season.

Kid is great and his shot looked pretty solid. If he can stand in the corner and do his job on offense then there’s no reason not to play him because he may be our second best defender already.

I find the talk of him seeing 15-20 minutes per game on the Mavs to be baffling. I didn’t want to say G League because people would really call me a hater but he’s closer to G league than a 15-20 minutes in NBA guy right now. Still not a fan of that pick. Think it was based on need. But I’m no professional scout and now that he’s a Mav, I hope he works out.

I thought he could be the third center (the role I expect him to have) before last night’s game, and he seemed more polished, defensively, than I expected.

All he has to learn to get on the floor is how to set good picks and not foul too much. It doesn’t seem like two years worth of work, to me. I guess we’ll see.

My % is higher than yours, but you do have the “if” part right.

Boy, ya'll really pouring the oil now. Give the kid a chance and see if he works out. All these proclamations of who he should be compared to after one SL game. He may not simulate either one. One thing's for sure, it's all dependent on him, and how bad he wants it.
Just like in the last few years the missing piece to get a much better summer league experience is a somewhat experienced PG that can run the offense. I get that they want to give Hardy the reps but it would be a lot easier for the rest of the team if someone would set them up and run a couple of plays instead of watching the guards chuck away.

Agree with this, but it's defensible in this case. Hardy handling the ball IS the point of summer league this time around, as far as I can see.

I thought Wright was suppose to be that guy.  If he can't handle summer league at this point, I don't think he makes much sense as our emergency point.
Jabari Smith Jr is on a heater. Back to back 30 pt games.
IMO, some folks need to pump the breaks on the Lively contributions this year. What I saw in the first game was a very raw center who has something to work with. By his own admission, he had some confidence issues early with Duke and now he will be making the biggest jump there is in basketball.

If I’m the Mav’s, the #1 thing I’m focused on is his confidence. We already have a key player who who struggles with confidence. Every player is different but something in me says that Lively is closer to Green than Hardy in the confidence department. Maybe it’s because he struggled so much early in college and proactively brought confidence up as an explanation.

FWIW, I see OMP as the opposite (Hardy v Green). He seems to be more of a killer with a short memory.
From God King to Divine Lord. O'Max is the truth.
When does Dallas play next?
O'Maximus Decimus Meridius. He'll have his vengeance.

Lakers find this guy undrafted

C.Castleton:  26 minutes, 8-13 FG, 14 RB, 3 AS, 21 PTS, undrafted

I don't think there is a more mentally tough player in the draft than Lively. What he went through in his personal life has broken many, many people.

I don't think there will be confidence issues.

That brings up an interesting question:

What's the best performance ever in a Summer League game?

Question 2:

What's the best performance ever in a Summer League game by an undrafted player?
Orlando Robinson been around for Miami a year or so as an undrafted player and he scored 36 the other day
