Man, I really hope they do too, but I have very little doubt that they are both out.

If the Mavs hold both KP and Luka out then I have to assume that they're gunning for a 7th seed and don't want to move up in the standings.

Just doesn't make sense.

Do we know if any of the new guys are playing tonight.  Isn't odd that the first game with a new team is agents your old team.  Didn't someone tweet that JJ was not happy with the trade.

So, Melli will meet the team in NO tonight, and I assume he'll be available to play, but I'd guess he won't having not practiced yet. We'll see.

"Not happy with the trade" is a misleading simplification of the Redick situation, I think. He has wanted to get a contract to play for BRK for YEARS, going all the way back to the summer when he signed a huge one-year deal to play for Philly. That's because his wife and kids live in Brooklyn. She's getting tired of moving all the time (Redick has a ton of self-created internet content out there, that's how we know this). So, when it looked like he would be bought out leading up to the TDL, it's only natural that he would get excited about signing a minimum to finish the year in BRK. The fact that they're so well positioned to win this season is a bonus.

But, we DON'T know that he WANTED to get bought out and leave money on the table, just that he believed he WOULD BE. I expect him to live up to his contract and have a good attitude about it. He's a pro who just learned that he's getting 100% of his last big contract. That's no small thing.

The pre-existing injury, reducing his availability for the rental period by the day? That's a drag. His attitude about the situation is being way overblown, imo.

I never saw anything regarding that. Donnie mentioned that Redick likes Luka and has been texting both him and Dirk and that he's excited. But he also said that Redick was obviously seeking a buyout to choose his new destination (that obviously wasn't Dallas).

What is more newsworthy is that the Mavs apparently didn't do their homework and that Redick's injury might keep him out longer than expected, and there is no timetable for his return right now.

Some have speculated that Redick is going to try and force his way, and make the Mavs buy him out so he can go to BRK or something. There hasn't been any official news regarding that. It has happened before (ala Fisher), so it isn't unheard of for a player to do something like that. But hopefully, Redick isn't one of those guys and that he truly is excited to play for the Mavs.

I think the JJ he is referring to is James Johnson.

Ah, you might be right. There have been discussions here about BOTH of them being unhappy.

Here's to listening to Reddick's next podcast to catch an inkling of what he thinks!

Quick turnaround after the trade for a multi-player revenge game. Will Luka play and/or KP play? Will Iwundu shut us down? How many turnovers will James Johnson have? Will Melli and Reddick find the right locker room? How did the actual in person trade go down? It could be anything from they just show up to a meeting so some sort of war-drama hostage exchange scene.

We’ll probably need RC to be in a good mood so we can get a little glimpse behind the curtain after the contest. Must win game.

I imagine a WWE showdown. Reddick might get injured a bit further after Johnson has his way with him. BUT WAIT, DIRK is on scene! He will pull out the ladder and destroy Johnson!

Pels blow big leads. They always give you a chance. Zion is ridiculous though. He's the most efficient scorer in the league. 16-19 for 39 pts last game.

They really want to tank for 7th seed and are probably hoping for the Suns to be their 1st round opponent. The Suns which beat us this season twice. (or even three times?) But let's hope the Jazz don't end up as the 2nd seed...

The sad part is I believe Donnie thinks the Mavs would have a 50/50 chance of winning without both Luka and KP.
That is how delusional they are about the mid to lower level talent in this team.
