Atlanta Hawks wing Vince Carter appeared on Tip T.I. Harris' expediTIously podcast and said he isn't interested in winning a ring if it means simply sitting on the bench and watching.

"I'm not gonna quote-unquote sell my soul to get [a ring]. What I mean by that is, I feel like at this age—being 43 on the court and still being able to compete and play and do what I can do on the court. ... My thing is that if I go to another team out there that's primed and ready to win a championship, it's not guaranteed that I'm going to play, play a lot. And I can't handle that, brother. I love the game too much to just sit there and use my voice but can't use my skill on the court."

I see speculation about Golden State trading or FA signing Giannis to pair with Steph and Clay. A trade would mean they'd have to give up any hope of significant draft participation for a few years. I don't know where the salaries are, but I'm guessing there would not be a lot of cap room left with those three salaries on the team. Of course, you'd probably have a lot of ring chasers willing to take the minimum just to sit on the bench.

It´s astonishing that the Warriors think they are god´s gift to basketball, because they had Curry fall into their lap and then convinced a delusional Durant that he could be the beloved man in Golden State. 139M guaranteed to Steph, Klay, Wiggins and Draymond alone.

The challenge with expanding is it dilutes the player pool and thus might hurt competition.  If you add 2 more then the bottom 2 struggling cities might not make it?  So it helps owners as they get a chunk of the buy in but long term might hurt.  You would likely have to realign divisions and that could hurt rivalries?  Add in Seattle/LV and both are west teams.  So you have to move 1 team east.

Memphis is in the East, so that works.

That works.  And we need Seattle in OKC division to spice it up

What is the point of divisions these days anyway?
Just remove them, play every team in your conference 3 times and the other conf twice.
With the extra teams it would be a 77 game season.
Or rotate playing 5 teams in your conf 4 times a season to make it 82.

Its a vestige from when the winning your division actually mattered in the playoffs.

If they're gonna add more teams, every team would need to play each other, because of ticket sales. So I believe they'd do the 77 game season idea you proposed, or perhaps they'd even add more games to like 86, and spread out the season even longer to accommodate.

Just can't see the NBA giving up 82 games when fans more often than not fill the stadium for every game.

IF you want to balance the schedule:

Right now playing 29 teams 3 times would be 87 games

For scheduling there is a division* and the following year teams would OMIT 1 game from each other division:

1 doesn't play 5; 2 doesn't play 4; 3's don't play each other

Expansion would make that odd -
All teams x2 = 62; (x3 = 93) getting to 20 from 62 or dropping 11 from 93 would be tough

MJ and was the best there ever was and ever will be.

Look at the ratings his last ring year finals.  What a great series The Last Dance was!

https://twitter.com/paulsen_smw/status/1...3954232320

As will surprise no one, NBA Finals ratings peaked during the Chicago Bulls era of the 1990s. Game 6 of the 1998 Bulls-Jazz series ranks as the highest rated and most-watched NBA game ever with a 22.3 and 35.6 million. The 1998 series is also the highest rated NBA Finals on average, with an 18.7 and 29.0 million over six games.

On the flip side, Game 2 of the 2003 Spurs-Nets NBA Finals ranks as the lowest rated and least-watched on record with a 5.2 rating and 8.1 million viewers. The 2007 Spurs-Cavaliers NBA Finals ranks at the bottom on average, with a 6.2 and 9.3 million over four games.

The Spurs fate was probably sealed before this news but now you have to pretty much rule them out from somehow getting that 8th seed. Only disappointed in that I would like for the Mavs to get a shot at them as always.
