We did much better in the first half. Luka tired + KP tired and defense went downhill.

In the first half KP challenged everything at the rim. In the 2nd half he was a step slow multiple times.

You're talking about "at the rim".  I'm talking about limiting Dame and McCollum, who score most of their points NOT at the rim.  The Mavs need to learn how to limit these elite perimeter shooters, and it appears the Spurs are having some success there.

Step 1: Catch opponent on the 2nd night of a road back-to-back.

Like the fight we had tho.

Pretty much sums it up:

His FTA totals the last five seasons are ridiculous. Talent aside it is the biggest indictment on the state of officiating in the league. Go do the math. His lead over the runner up in that category is more than a season's worth of attempts by any of the others in the Top 10. In some cases, you can add two players totals together and not match the disparity. Think about that. In 5 seasons he is taking the equivalent of what it is taking other elite players 6-7 seasons to total. There is no defense of that.

It really does ruin the sport.  And because he shoots FTs at such a high made percent it allows refs to add a Rox bucket anytime they choose.  And I get there will always be some bad calls in all games but when a certain person always gets them something is fishy.
League needs to pick a game like last night and do tape review of every Harden foul and see how many really were.  Then watch game and see how other players were called (not given calls for similar or more contact).

Without FTs Harden scores so many less points

Also right after game he went to every player and every coach and shook hands or embraced.  So far he is carrying Houston too. Sucks he went there tho I don’t like Rox and am not happy we lost to them.

Stuff like this is why I'll never disparage how great Phil Jackson was as a coach.    Coaching is ultimately a people management job as much as it is job responsible for drawing Xs and Os on a whiteboard.    Managing people is difficult in any line of work, in the NBA you're managing the biggest egos walking the earth under extremely high pressure situations under global public scrutiny.    And Phil Jackson successfully managed the biggest egos on the biggest stages in the most high pressure situations.

It's also why I'm consistently worried about players under Carlisle. He isn't the easiest to get along with, and his irritable personality already cost him a job in Detroit and Indiana didn't want to keep him around for a rebuild.

I hope his personality can mesh well with both Luka and Kristaps

I don't think they are legit championship contenders. They just don't have the depth imo. Come playoff time, after Davis and Lebron have played 36 minutes a game, how fresh will they be to go against tailored defenses for 4 series?

Just can't see it. But I will say that Bradley, Howard, and McGee have surprised me with their effort. Seems like they've turned a page, though I doubt how long they can keep it up.

Watching the Lakers does make me wonder "what if" whenever I see Danny Green spot up for 3. He would've been so so so good here.

If they fail to go deep in the playoffs, it will be exactly because of a lack of quality depth. They have the talent in the front of the rotation to win a chip.

Really?
They're honestly my favorites to win unless one of the other teams pull off a trade. Of course that depends on Davis actually being healthy when the playoffs start. Such a wide open year.
I'm getting more and more on board with a win now type move for OKC guys

I think LaC will have a lot to say about that. Especially once they have a healthy and clicking PG. That team is scary good on both ends of the court and have a good bench unit to boot.
