I am not saying my way of thinking is right, but here goes. I want another elite guy who can get to the rim, who is very good creating for others, and gets to the line 7 plus times a game. I want a guy who I can run secondary action off Luka. A guy who can give Luka rests on the court and a guy who can run the offense when Luka sits. If they try to double team Luka, I want a guy who will cause heck by getting to the rim or getting other good looks. I love Luka, but I want him at a lower usage rate. I don't believe you win a championship when he is at such a high usage rate.
I can live with the lack of defense or a guy not being a three point shooter. Heck, the league has known he doesn't shoot threes and he still lives in the lane and gets to the free throw line. Is he that much less of a threat from three point line than Richardson this year?
If I get two elite creators and hopefully can build back KP up for either his stay in Dallas or future trade, then I build my team around those guys to fill in the weaknesses with guys whose skills supports those three. Sure Derozan's D may not be good. But any team playing us better be ready to score a lot.
