Supposedly a great guy and he does bring toughness, but I am surprised to see his name pop up as a target.
So I think I like Adams prob more than the Mavs do for some of the reasons you listed. I just think he does things that compliment Luka really well, so if you can get him for just contracts (ie J Rich) then that's pretty interesting.
What got him on my radar was seeing how good Boban is with Luka and how desperate the Mavs were to punish a small lineup.
Adams is like Boban but an actual playable NBA player. He would still be a rotational guy but I think he does things that help win basketball games. Adams sets huge screens and is a great rim runner - I don't get why you are saying he isn't. I don't have stats in front of me but hard rolls to the rim to me are a staple of Adams' game.
Adams is a hustle guy, gets rebounds, especially those offensive rebounds we love. I just thought he would be a very interesting get. He makes more sense if KP is traded for someone who isn't a big and you go straight committee (Adams, Powell, Maxi, maybe one more stretch big).
I mainly am just fascinated by the idea of going ultra big as the Mavs did in the playoffs but with a much better player in Adams. I have never really seen anything like it.
Finally my hot take is that this team would probably be better with an Adams led committee (including Maxi penciled in as the stretch big) than with KP on it.
