I disagree with some of your assessments but enjoyed your post! Very well thought out.
A couple comments:
- Orlando you never know they could be into a KP swap for like WCJ, Ross, Harris. That's not much to give up on their end, basically spare parts for KP. Mavs would need to send more salary like J Rich for salary matching. Mavs would get bench guys and WCJ has potential as a starter or at least solid rotational big.
- Sacramento you can count on for random moves. A Hield/Bagley move would actually make a lot of sense. I think Bagley looked like a HOF-er against the Mavs so sure I would take a crack at that. I think he is a perfect buy-low guy. Hield is a high floor scorer/shooter.
- Minnesota - the Mavs angle here is getting Rubio for simple cap relief. Bringing back Rubio didn't really do anything for the Wolves and their salary rolls are way too high. You can probably get Rubio for a lesser contract like J Rich or Burke. Rubio would be awesome for the Mavs I think off the bench.
- Washington might be the most likely trade partner. As you say they are desperate and if Mavs are as desperate as we think they are they would take the relatively humble pieces from Washington to get off of KP's deal and get some usable pieces.
Something to remember is that even if some of you don't love a trade package from like a Washington, once you break KP's massive deal into smaller contracts, all of a sudden they are easier to move. That's one way you get out from a big deal like KP's before maybe its too late (ie re-injury, etc.).
