I have always thought Jerami Grant would be one of the best fitting pieces for a Luka led team. 

And there may be some possible ways to get him. Grant is 27, doesn't really fit the time line for Detroit. He'd be the main guy manning the fort until they Pistons get better. And they won't be after a long while. What's the difference between a 25 year old oft injured primary option? Grant is who he is, but KP still holds promise, if anything, barring injuries, Detroit might yet build up his value being the number 1 option,  scoring 25PPG albeit in losing seasons. Now if KP gets injured or wants to diva-it-out, then their picks will only get higher.

I think you're onto something with the Grant idea.

He's that 6'8 switchable forward that can create for himself on offense. My one concern would him getting swallowed up in the Luka stardom and reverting back to his pre Pistons days where he was nothing more than a 4th option kinda like we're seeing with KP now.

I do also wonder if the Pistons would include Bey in any deal. Getting 2 forwards for KP would be a big return.
