MacMullan inferred that Minnesota wants to trade for Collins really, really bad. But yes, they would have no problem offering him a max in free agency either. I suspect several teams will. Supply and demand in the talent market ultimately decides what a player is worth, and there's more demand for Collins caliber players than supply.
If they don't make the playoffs next year and/or KAT walks or starts demanding a trade, Rosas and Scott Layden are probably fired immediately on the spot. They're not going to survive having to trade KAT. They blew the Wiggins + pick/D'Angelo trade. They blew the Jarred Culver trade up/pick. I don't think the Minnesota Ownership is in the mood for a never ending rebuild process while Rosas is blowing or trading off high draft picks.
