I see what you're saying, but also look at the team Wiseman is on.
He's barely getting 20 minutes a night under Kerr. With several DNP-CD's mixed in. C is the Warriors weakest position and it has always been that. This is the thinnest roster they've had in maybe 9 years. IF Wiseman was good enough, you don't think Kerr would be playing him 36 mpg?
He isn't. He's raw. He has a boatload of talent that's undeniable. But he's wild on defense (and this with Draymond coaching him nearly every possession), has no go-to offensive repertoire, and makes poor choices. He's also a rookie that basically made a high school to NBA jump so it's understandable he's like this. I'm trying to see Wiseman for what he is today, rather than what he CAN be. He is a highly talented project that has a high chance of panning out in the next 3-5 years.
But the Mavs are trying to win right now. Today. Every year we have Luka is a year where we can potentially contend. That's the luxury of having an All-NBA MVP candidate averaging 30/10/10 on your team gives you. KP has his warts. But he at least allows the Mavs to be competitive right now. Waiting around for Wiseman does not.
