So @"SleepingHero" that Davis trade example is actually a good example of how he is connected and is a mouthpiece for agents and teams. So yes, he was "wrong" about Davis being traded, but so was everyone else in the industry at that time, including Shams. The Pelicans were using the media to push back against the Rich Paul and the Lakers who were generating public pressure that was going to hamstring the Pels leverage in negotiations.
So I am NOT saying Marc J Spears would ever break trade news (he won't), but he will be the purposeful mouthpiece of agents and teams.
My point in this scenario:
Someone is purposely feeding him information about KP being available in a trade. Almost certainly KP's brother OR another team that wants public pressure on the Mavs to mount so they are pressured into doing something. The Mavs may not cave to this pressure, but this news means somebody really wants KP trade rumors swirling. All I know is that it is NOT the Mavs organization.
