Listen I love me some Marcus Smart. He's a winning player. But he's also a flawed player that is more one-dimension that I'd like to be giving KP up for. Especially because he views himself as a much better scorer than he actually is.
I don't think Smart is enough alone to even consider taking on Kemba who's been dealing with a lingering knee issue the last 1 1/2 seasons. Then add in us giving away KP in the deal and it's just way too much.
Boston would have to replace Smart with Brown to make it even worth considering for me.
The swap is Burke for Walker, I think we all can agree that that is a large upgrade.
Smart for JRich, I think this is an upgrade, but will agree that it isn't a huge upgrade. He is the JYD moreso than JRich and can guard pretty much all 5 positions. He is also a distributor, although his personal scoring leaves much to be desired.
KP for Theis is a large downgrade (even if KP is no better than what he's shown so far this season), but the hope is that Theis is exactly the C we need to get by from that position.
I'm still iffy on whether or not I'd do it, but I think it's pretty close in value. Maybe we need a first to even it out a bit more.
