And as I said, and @"KillerLeft" even explained better, if the team thinks KP is a dead end (and I am not saying he is one) then trading him to boost our trade assets is the right thing to do. 
Not just saying "only trade him for Beal/Lavine" of the world, since there teams unlikely to accept such trade.

Better to see if he can recover than except 2nd rate return now on what you have invested in him...
