I think people tend to overrate Jalen here. He is a rock solid backup but his physical limitations are never going to let him get past that status. I can see not wanting to give him up if Drummond is a rest-of-the-year rental. I don't think you are going to trade for Drummond and ditch Powell for the cost of a 2nd rounder. Conversely, we aren't getting Beal and even if we had the assets, including Jalen isn't going to sway that discussion much if at all.
I think we are also going crazy with the "does he fit conversation" too that permeated the Gobert discussions. We need to stop thinking in terms of fit with K
This team is broken right now and one player is going to fix everything that is wrong. Drummond might not fix our broken defense but it sure would be nice to cut down on the 2nd, 3rd and 4th chance points we routinely give up. I also don't really care about fit with KP right now. The dude is little more than a seven footer with a sweet stroke...the rest of his offensive game is pants.
