Every single discussion we have here leads me back to the same conclusion: KP is a dead end. We're trying to fit pieces in around him like he's Dirk - trying to cover for his weaknesses and preferences. Only, he's nowhere remotely in the same class as Dirk on the floor. Sooner or later, everyone is going to agree, I think, even though I hope I'm wrong.
Ya I think KP is going to flash but ultimately be this guy we want to be a star that just comes up short. He is not an efficient offensive player. That being said he does things defensively that are pretty handy but has been inconsistent there as well. I have more confidence that he regains his defensive skills bc those are related to him getting back into better physical shape. His offense should improve but he is going to be streaky as a shooter. Good enough to be our 2nd or 3rd best starter but lowers the Mavs ceiling to just under a contender even if everything goes well.
Like I am fine with KP, I could see him getting better. I don't think he's a bust or anything like that but I am very open to a trade if the right deal comes along.
