Ideally, the goal would be to get some value for Love now from Cleveland and then be able to build his value and flip him again in the off-season or before next season's trade deadline for something else. Look at Horford in OKC, he has certainly done a decent job of rebuilding his trade value.
I think any of these overpaid guys should be looked at. If the Mavs can get a very good player (even if overpaid) without giving up any of their top 7 guys then I think you are in business. There are plenty of trade ideas being kicked around that are just unlikely to happen as much as we might like the idea of someone like LaVine being gettable. Other moves could be potentially lateral moves that don't make a big difference bc of the assets we have to give up (like a THJ).
The move to make would be to get that 8th guy for expiring and maybe one of our young assets. Love qualifies altho he's injured at the moment. Drummond does as well but you'd have to talk Cleveland into Powell. Horford is a maybe, they would definitely have to take Powell in that swap. He would be your 8th guy and the big thing he would bring is defense and rebounding so I would consider it.
Other names: Eric Gordon, Bertans, Reddick, Rubio. Gallo is far and away my favorite pick because he is both the most viable name and gives you that scoring from the 4 spot.
