Would be based on who’s available, but any of the names we talk about here daily would do.
The main goals would be
1) to get he team off of this unrealistic and stressful timetable by removing his max contract (if you can’t get a high value player in return) and/or
2) to avoid the long and heartbreaking road of trying to build a championship defense around a big who can’t move. When playing well, he is quite a value on offense. He creates a ton of space. But, he’s just not a guy who can create and carry you for stretches, imo. If I saw any indication that he was on his way to becoming something anything like Dirk, I might be more inclined to try to cover up for his lateral movement for the next seven years with other roster acquisitions. As Mavs fans, we know all too well how difficult that is and frankly, he’s not good enough to convince me re-upping for that ride is worthwhile.
