Operating over the cap does bring certain advantages. Completely agree. But, I see all sorts of issues with this level of fantasy complexity (heck, there are issues with half of this level of complexity).
1. It will be interesting to see how the league deals with all negotiations that so obviously occurred before the opening of free agency last time. Any crack-down at all will make sign and trade scenarios like this that much more difficult.
2. Have you met the Dallas Front office. What in their recent history tells us they could pull this off.
3. Double S&T's are really hard to pull off. And this plan requires Double S&T's with multiple teams needed for outgoing salary.
4. We'd be just asking to get Tyson Chandlered if we ask THJ and JRich to be patient while free agent money dries up and trust we are going to pull off TWO multi-team double S&T's.
5. I mention this in another thread, but the Hard Cap does matter. Not the 21 Hard Cap, but in 2022 when Luka's extension kicks in.
It is certainly possible that Dallas could pull off something that yields a third star (let's use Collins since that is your focus). If they did that over the cap and kept one of JRich/THJ, then they could spend the MLE to fill a hole. If they did all that, they'd be done for a while. No S&T or MLE in 2022. If they are really comfortable with the roster in 21, I can see busting the Hard Cap in 2022. But, then I go back to #2 above.
