This means sitting in the hotel eating room service 24/7 right? With only the stuff they brought with them for entertainment? I hope they have good electronics in their bag.

Headline says game postponed, but no message posting to that effect.

A bit embarrassing that the NBA didn't even make it a month before they had to postpone games.

Who's bright idea was it to allow players up to 2 guests that didn't have to be checked?? I swear for how smart these guys try to be, that was one puzzling decision.

League wide halting of play 10-14 days would be nice for the Mavs.  I'm sure the Sixers are like, wait wut?

KP is probably more disappointed than anyone.

As long as there's a treadmill wherever Luka holes up, I agree.

Yes, fat lazy slow player of the week in the West should be on diet, abusing treadmill and shooting 3's for at least 7-14 days 24/7..

As dumb as that rule sounds on the surface, limiting guests to 2 on the road is surely far more restrictive than unlimited family and friend exposure at home. They're not in a bubble, after all. And the NBA has absolutely zero legal right to demand that non-employees take medical tests.

IMHO, the question has always been how they'll respond to infections as they inevitably happen rather than cling to the idea that all infections can be prevented through strict top-down control. We're about to find out, and I'm hoping for the NBA to set a good example.

It's very possible to play a professional sports season without interruptions - all European Soccer leagues (with way more players involved) are able to play with only rare cases of infections for the last months.

Which means the NBA has take a close look in the mirror and then simply do, what's needed to be done.

Very true, but not one of them matters even a little bit if Luka isn't up to being what we all decided he was at various points last year. This team is moving forward under the paradigm that he's a franchise player. Everything is being built around him. That's a lot of responsibility, and none of us here put it on his shoulders.

I'm sorry - I know he's just a kid, but being in shape is the least of the obstacles he'll have to overcome to get to where he believes he's going. That's just how it is.

Play outside on a 65yard* long court?  Angel

*adjusted for 12 more players on the field on a 9 times bigger soccer court.

I mean yeah on the surface that rule looks a lot more restrictive. But like you said, the NBA cannot and should not regulate the home of these NBA athletes. That's overreach and ridiculous.

But when the team is on a road trip? That's essentially a company trip. The Mavs players are representing the franchise and the NBA when on the road. Given that, that means they should abide by the rules set forth by the NBA, especially during a pandemic.

Since the NBA can control what players do on the road (such as no nightlife outings), allowing players to invite up to 2 people of their choosing without any checks is quite frankly idiotic. Sure the 2 people rule is probably for family to see the game, but it's open for abuse. And given how infectious this virus is, it's playing with fire.

The only rationale I can give is that the NBPA lobbied for this rule and probably threatened lockout if they didn't get it.
