Iwundu has super active hands. He felt like he was all over the court defensively. I also liked what I saw from Green when he was the on ball defender. Luka has actually taken a nice leap defensively too, it seems like he's using his IQ and length to get into passing lanes a lot more this year.

Rick Carlisle pointed out that besides the OT Denver game, in all of the Mavs wins they've held their opponents to 100 points or less

Clippers 73
Heat 83
Rockets 100
Nuggets 117 (OT)
Magic 98

D-Rating is 5th in the league and Opponent PPG is 4th in the league.  Dallas is 7th in the league (the league) in Net Rating WITHOUT KP.

It is really stunning.  Here is a cool mental exercise.  How would we feel about the team if the Phoenix and LAL games were preseason and we actually began the year against the Clippers.  We'd be 5-2 with wins against LAC, Denver and Miami.  One of the losses would have been with Luka sitting.  Remove the LAL and Phoenix games and we'd have the best winning percentage in the league and the Net Rating would be that much better.

I'm not saying those first two games didn't happen.  I'm saying we've bounced back really well and we are about to add a 20 point, 9 board 20 PER guy who was 4th on the team in On - Off last season (including a slow start).  I think this may work out OK

Noticed this the last few games too. He could for sure be a JKidd type defender as he was for the short period we had him his last stint here. Very cerebral defender basically.

And he played last night too.

Seems like COVID will slowly make its way through our roster.

Now to see who else has to quarantine due to contact tracing

This couldn't happen at a worst time with the Pelicans game tomorrow. I guess Johnson will start instead of Kleber with the main task to guard Zion. Non Zion minutes Mavs can go small ball with just one big. I would hate WCS-Powell combination.

Johnson has shot the three pretty good lately but the stretch big role is a crucial one. Spacing will get difficult without Maxi. Can KP come back in time for the next game?

Tough news, but overall I just hope whoever has it gets through the sickness safely.

Maxi too?

I mean he just played a game with the whole team so it seems like everybody?

They better put bubble wrap on Luka. He's the one you can least afford, contracting it.

Remember when Gobert was diagnosed wth covid? It was the first case that got the league suspended and there were no protocols.

Only Mitchell, whose locker is next to Gobert's caught it. Nobody from Toronto, the team they played against the night before got it. No other teammate who share the same locker room, team bus and plane caught it.

So although this disease is quite infectious, it still needs close proximity and breathing the same air for a considerable period of time (more than 15 minutes) with no mask to spread.

That was always the part about this charade, that didn´t sit right with me. I know they have contact during practice and games all the time, but all the high fives, handshakes, claps and hugs with teammates AND opposing players after and during games are just a recipe for disaster.

Sarcastically said the quickest way for Hinton, Terry or Bey onto the floor would be to not participate in all the high-fives coming to the bench. Fastest way to get minutes is minimize contact.

Also Atlanta might win the title by default, because their whole team hate each other and naturally social distance from each other. Detroit doesn´t have much reason for high fives either with all their losses. Blush

I just hope everybody gets through this healthy. It can even mess with pro athletes. A soccer player who had officially recovered from the virus, had to be subbed off early, because he was completely out exhausted after just 15 minutes.

15 minutes of soccer would probably kill me.

Let's just hope everybody can recover completely and there are no respiratory deficiencies lingering long term as you hear sometimes. I think it's quite good to have it early in the season. Every player will get it eventually
