For the conspiracy theorists out there ...

Going into the draft, the Mavs clearly needed a defensive-minded big wing who can shoot. Good for them, a consensus top-15 pick fell to them in Saddiq Bey. 

But the Mavs went against the grain and selected a less heralded player in Green.

Did the Mavs see something in Green that few others saw? Or was something else at play? .... 

Turns out Saddiq Bey was selected by the Pistons with the next pick, no 19.

..... if the Mavs somehow swing a S&T for Wood, discussions may have started on draft night.
