Sure. But that actually makes even less sense to push back the option date until after the draft.

BTW, I'll also amend my previous statement. I'm not sure this is about a S&T, or he would have out opted out already. Because of the option he still hasn't exercised, I think Hayward is using Atlanta's cap space as leverage to force a trade where he opts in and keeps his current salary while getting an extension in the process. Maybe he still ends up in Atlanta. But it could just as easily be to a place like Dallas.
