So what you're saying is, the Mavs could be putting all of their eggs into the Hayward basket, not giving their attention to other stuff because they think this is happening, and be left with nothing. Especially if they drafted for Boston. In other words, this year's Kemba/Olynyk debacle.

Umm...no, I don't think so. 

I doubt the draft is involved with this one. I think you look at it like a free agent signing, not a trade. It'll be THJ and something small when it comes time to trade, I think. 

I don't think the Mavs are incapable of looking at multiple options at once. I have never, ever believed that they missed out on something they liked by not being prepared for it. I think they just don't always like the same stuff fans like, or what fans think is possible for them isn't always actually possible.
