DAL OFFSEASON: Trade & FA | Mavs "mostly done...but you never know."

All the sellers are getting smart and taking advantage of desperate teams. Hopefully sanity is restored at some point. All those picks for an expiring Jrue was ridiculous.

Should happen naturally as a lot of the bigger names have warts:

-Hayward:  injury concerns, expiring, expensive, Boston in cap hell
-Dipo:  injury concerns, expiring, only one standout season, wants a huge contract, sabotaged his value with the Pacers by asking other teams to acquire him.
-Hield:  Will not return his coaches calls, plays no defense, has a fairly large/long contract, will the Kings even trade him now that Bogdan is gone
-Beal:  Can't afford him and I personally think he's overrated at this point as he is a defensive liability.  Maybe he'd improve on a winning team but again, can't afford him.
-Harden:  He's had enough teammates that it's time to start blaming him and not everyone else.  Too expensive.  Can't co-exist with Luka.
-Westbrook:  Can't co-exist with Luka.  Way too expensive.  He needs to be a solo act, it's just too bad he picked a team sport.

Otherwise you are better off picking at #18 and/or #31. And have THJ still. Buddy is the same age as THJ, and his contract is meh. Oladipo is expiring and an unknown, and probably wants the max as well. You lose a pick for him as well, no thanks. I wouldn't even do Oladipo for THJ and 31.

The case for Dipo is that he'd be an upgrade to THJ on defense.  The case for Hield is he's a bucket waiting to happen and can more easily create his own shot.  The case for THJ is that he wants to be here (we shouldn't take that for granted).  18 + 31 isn't enough to move off of Powell.  He's here for the next year.  Unless it is a slam dunk trade, I don't think you can ship out Maxi or DFS because of their defense.  I'd be fine shopping Curry and the picks.  Now that we don't need to worry so much about powder for 21, we can offer players more than one year deals.
