As for as THJ opting in or not... Does it really even matter unless you need him as an asset in the deal?
Mavs are right at the cap... So no THJ? We take that salary back straight into our cap space. We have Wright to use in a deal and can take about 27 mill back. Also Justin Jackson for another 5.
Not only that but I think you guys are over complicating it. There's a simple conversation to be had. "THJ are you opting in or out? We have a trade offer for you."
THJ isn't going to a bad team in any trade. It doesn't make sense for those teams. Nor do I think he is opting out and risking taking less money to choose his team. It'd almost assuredly be a 3 team trade. If it isn't... THJ won't be viewed as an asset and he can opt out away.
