Last 5 minutes last season Defenses abuse and swarm Luka...

He passes to a teammate who only knows how to jack up a 3...

He passes to a teammate who hesitates allowing defense to recover...

He passes to a teammate who tries to create a shot or offense and it ended badly with a poor shot or a bad turnover...

Nobody could breakdown a defender and get what they want...

YES! 

When Luka is doubled and trapped late in the season or in the playoffs, the result is not the same as it is early on against bad teams. 

In the playoffs:

• all teams are good and well coached
  
• they know their own defensive schemes much better
  
• they know the Mavs’ offensive actions almost as well as the Mavs do
  

In THOSE double team situations, the correct pass rarely finds an open shooter the way it does early in the season against bad teams or work in progress defenses. But, the correct pass DOES create a 4 on 3 advantage. The teams who advanced to the second and third rounds of the playoffs this year ALL had multiple players on the court who could take advantage of those 4 on 3 situations. The Mavs had Trey Burke.

Porzingis is great, but he’s not that guy. Finding at least one more of those guys is the number one need for this team.

THEN, we can start to discuss tough guys, defenders...whatever you guys want.
