DAL OFFSEASON: Trade & FA | Mavs "mostly done...but you never know."

"Trades: Charania’s report anticipates the league’s restriction on trades being lifted on Nov. 16, which provides a limited window for any teams trying to move a contract prior to its guarantee date. This, admittedly, is a small subset of overall contracts. The more important distinction here is that it will allow teams to make some trades ahead of the draft.

However, the way to do a trade on Nov. 17 isn’t by picking up the phone on Nov. 16. Teams will spend the next two weeks laying the groundwork for any deals they want executed prior to the draft."

Just want Donnie to know this in case he reads this board.

Wait, wait... does this with "guarantee dates" refer only to players with only partially guaranteed years that can be waived, thus saving the team the non-guaranteed amount? Or is it in a broader sense, of allowing teams to trade players before their TOs or POs are exercised? Does it mean that THJ can be traded pre-draft? If so, good. The only bad part to that is that it means that the Mavs could trade away WCS when imho they ought to keep him as a good cheap big.
