Most of the fans here are long timers and would recognize the term that one of the previous MBTs used.
This off season seems to be one of trying the same thing.
Was JeT a fallen angel? Most fallen angels didn’t pan out here. Brandan Wright seemed to be one who had semi success here.

Tyson Chandler worked out pretty well. Too bad we screwed him over...twice.

This seems like nothing previous leadership has ever done. That hasn't crossed my mind once this off season. This off season has been incredible. Will every move work out? Probably not, but they brought in young talent and some.of them will hit. Give me this strategy over the previous regime all day, every day.

Looking back at Tyson’s stints and stats at other places before he came here, he was a disappointment wrt where he was drafted but was definitely not a bust.
Risacher and Jett Howard are certified busts. Top picks who the team didn’t even give a 2nd contract.

I saw the thread title and thought someone died. I guess I don't remember that phrase.

Agreed, except Risacher isn't there yet. He's still on his first contract. I think TY is kind of a good model for what might be possible with Risacher in a way.
Chicago drafted him on the same night they drafted Eddy Curry, and the plan seemed to have been to make Chandler a 4 (lolololol) to Curry's 5. Chandler was FOR SURE a disappointment relative to those "be like Rasheed Wallace" kind of expectations, but after some early injury problems, by the time he was in New Orleans with Chris Paul he was one of the top vertical spacers and defensive centers in the league.
Risacher MIGHT end up having a similar impact as a long, talented "3&D PLUS." You just have to drop any notion of him ever looking like a #1 pick out of the conversation.

Thinking positively, did you also consider Wizards Deni a certified bust? They also didn't want to keep him past his rookie deal after he had similar stats to Risacher his first few years. Schmitz was also in Portland when they turned him into a different player.

Not me. I have always been impressed by his play. . I remember plenty of comments of wanting him in the Porzingis deal.
Also he was traded for real value. How do you classify him as a fallen angel? The guys we got now are total busts who their teams just gave away almost free. I don’t see the situations as comparable.
I do hope at least some of these guys pan out but I would have given SeVa a 2 way contract before Jett.

They might give Seva JP’s spot.

Not a great all around player but JP is one of the few guards on this roster.
Reading the Orl fan messages they seem unanimously glad that Jett is gone. At least with Risacher you have a segment of Hawks fans who felt he could have been better utilized.

Maybe Juwon knows a phenomenally great sports doctor, heh.

Weren’t these reclamation projects also called „lightning in a bottle“ back in the days - at least from Mike Fisher?

Lots of these fallen angel types were on the Mavs back then, and yes, this was an option for Donnie.
Wright and Monta were of course, the most memorable of 'em success wise.
The most high profile fallen angel would be Mayo.
The most disastrous one would be Nerlens Noel.
You could consider these guys of the type too in a way with varying degrees of success:
Tyson, Diop, Aminu, McDermott, Brewer, Gooden

Good memory! I remember all of those guys well.
I am great with giving all these guys a shot. All of them are talented and young so now which of them win the great job of playing with Cooper and Kyrie. Talk about an opportunity for them.

My favorite Mavs reclamation was Jerry Stackhouse. When the Mavs got him, his reputation was an old, disgruntled, egotistic ball stopper, a volatile and inefficient scorer who's game didn't translate to winning.
But Stack was an awesome 6th man in Dallas. Tough as nails.
Looking back, it turns out he was only 30 when he was traded to Dallas.
...and as a matter of fact, Stackhouse and Mathurin are incredibly similar in a lot of ways.

That's a decent comp, yeah! I was thinking about this after your post in the other thread, and was going to suggest DeRozan, but this one is better, I think.
Mathruin shoots 3's better than either of them, and he'll probably improve in that area. But, in terms of scoring chops you're in the right ballpark, I think. Kind of a more modern version of Stackhouse.

If Stackhouse qualifies, can we let Matrix enter the ring? 2.0 wasn't what he once was, but he was still a great defender and had enough offensive juice left to be respectable on that end of the floor.
