[...] "It's all I would think about," Porzingis said. "'What's wrong with me? Why am I like this?' It was an everyday fight. And I used to get emotional, because I would be giving everything I had [in practice] and I just couldn't do it. I thought, 'Why can't I do the things that everyone else is doing?' I was just thinking I'm soft, you know?"

Won't play tonight.   They said he was better but sick... Now his knee hurts again..   Two years+post  ACL..  everyone should be concerned.   He has now missed 25% of games

If it weren't for his defense, I'd be ready to put him on the trading block... If I were Cuban of course.

Me too. That's 9 in a row now, especially if there is still knee soreness

Well he was listed as "questionable" so clearly there was a chance he'd sit.  All indications are that he's on the verge of playing again, so I'll save the hand-wringing until I hear that this is a relapse rather than just the normal uncertainty of recovery.

As a side note, the crazy combination of knee-jerk local fans and hateful NY fans on social media both reacting to any KP injury news as evidence that he's never playing again makes it pretty clear why Dallas isn't more open about injuries.  I wouldn't want to feed that negativity, either.

ARE YOU SERIOUSLY SAYING YOU'D RATHER HAVE WES MATHEWS, DAJ, AND DSJ RIGHT NOW?

Sorry, couldn't help myself.

It IS frustrating, though.

I want everyone back and get the pot bubbling again!

Yeah if there is any "question" keep him out.
That's a massive contract. We need to do everything possible to make sure he's still an impact player in 5 years
Give him a couple weeks off whenever he needs it

Odds are growing possible surgery in season, almost certain in the off season.

Maybe Phil was right. Can't built around a guy you can't count on to play.

Honestly just adding everything up,

-he certainly injured his knee against the Lakers. Probably a mild sprain which required the PRP injections. Multiple other athletes have had the same thing and were out 2-3 weeks to recover
-he got sick during his recovery which definitely set him back
-he was averaging close to 36mpg in December, which honestly hilarious after the Mavs said they'll do everything to "ease" him back into the season.
-he definitely has a predisposition to get worn out/injured.

After looking at it all, I think everyone needs to take a chill pill. The Mavs are being overly cautious and rightfully so. KP did get injured. It wasn't a serious injury, but it required at least 2 weeks to heal. Multiple other factors compounded that recovery, so they're making sure he feels 10000% before they ever let him see the court.

And its probably good for KP to take a 2-3 week break in the middle of the season. He normally got burnt out around this time with the Knicks. A rest like that could help him well into the playoffs.

Thankfully we have the wonderboy as our main engine.
