INJURY: KP w/ right knee soreness & illness (playing against LAC)
#41
The goal is for him to contribute at a high level for his entire contract. I agree with this approach. If he tweaks something, get it right before playing him. Let small tweaks heal and keep the strength training and PT going.

I hope those people that were bashing KP understand now just how vital he is to our success. His rim protection is pretty legit.

Agreed.  Dare I say it, it's beginning to look like the Mavs can less afford to have KP out than to have Luka out.  And it's not just his rim protection, but also how much he spaces out the court and how he gets to the FT line a good bit.

Man, I only see 1 poster bashing him in J0n and 1 throwing out hate due to perceived bias and allowances for KP as opposed to other players he likes on the team in Fuerza1.

Others are expressing fear that he doesn’t reach his potential due to injuries that have been a part of his downfall his whole career. In that fear, there becomes a value in return they are willing to listen to in trade for him.

If you can swap Turner (the reigning shot block leader in 18-19) and someone like TJ Warren or Jeremy Lamb  for KP and JJ, how much are you thinking about that? Some? None? Lots? Can you allow others to believe that kind of trade might make our team better? If you like it, can you allow others to not like it?

At this point, given the team's performance without him (and especially contrasted with the team's performance with him and without Luka), at some point, several us owe KP an apology. Playing the way we would like? No. As healthy as we would like? Obviously not. The Mavs' 2nd-best player? By far.

I would do Turner and Warren or Lamb for KP and Jackson if the Pacers sent back two firsts and a pick swap in between back. Otherwise, no.

KP plays winning basketball. He's not going anywhere. Mavs need more depth behind him. We all thought he was going to be a 65 game type player and I think that's just what he is which is fine. We don't have to go on a losing skid if we have more than two playable bigs on the roster when KP is out.

Interesting. Of course I'd love more compensation back, just wonder if the value is that far off all things considered to this point? I think if picks are involved, 1 first (their next available is 2022) would be enough and IND has a good amount of future 2nds to fill in if necessary.

Honestly, Turner allows us to be a C and 3 wing team since he can hold his own against the bigger bigs in the league. Something I think would be good for our future and not something we should consider with KP being the C.

Man we almost lucked out missing LeBron. Of course he has the flu and is out tonight. Mavs could have had a much easier back to back.

Being worried about another knee = bashing?

With the 2 first round picks and the $150 million contract, KP will have to be a star for the Mavs to make any noise in future years.  No one is saying he sucks.  We just have to hope that
1) he stays healthy and 2) he keeps improving.

Any info on his return date? I thought I might have missed something after tonight's game.

Finally questionable. Hallelujah!

I know it's heresy to say this but KP adds a higher floor than Doncic does by himself on this particular team. Doncic is great and both of them are great, but KP's defense does so much for this team. Mavs have other guards that can distribute, even if they aren't of the quality of Doncic. By floor I just mean Mavs can piece together wins more without Luka than they can KP it appears. All that to say we need both healthy and with both healthy this team is in contention.

He has anemia and it kicks in this time of the season every year. This may be anemia related somehow

This is an interesting bit of information but how exactly do you know this?

I must say, if he indeed has difficulty with anemia, I would hope that our medical staff could find a solution for this as well.
This Reunion Rowdie says the AAC needs "Luka's Lunatics" for the Luka/KP and gang era.
