ESPN Sources: The Los Angeles Clippers are sending guard Russell Westbrook, a second-round pick swap and cash to the Utah Jazz in a sign-and-trade agreement for guard Kris Dunn.

Westbrook is expected to agree on a contract buyout with the Jazz, clearing the way for him to eventually join the Denver Nuggets after clearing waivers, sources tell ESPN.

Once Russell Westbrook clears waivers, the expectation is that he’ll join the Denver Nuggets as a free agent and bring them another veteran to bolster the team’s bench and be available as a spot-starter.

Replacing KCP with Westbrook has never gone wrong before. Denver really thinking outside the box with this one!

Denver needs 3pt shooting and they're willing to sign off on Russ? He's a future HOFamer, but I admit he'll bring other intangibles to the team like hustle, athleticism, (although it's waning as he ages) toughness, etc.. but he turns the ball over frequently and he blows more layups than any other guard in the league. I just don't see the fit on Denver.

The Denver Nuggets FO sucks. They should have spent the whole of last season and this summer trying to offload MPJ and Nnaji.

Wouldn't this roster be much better for them? It seems like a team with solid depth, one that Jokic could have worked with.

Of course, because it’s a two-year contract, the Nuggets are now paying him all $3.3 million, rather than the reduced rate of a 1-year minimum deal.

Which begs the question:

Why didn’t the Nuggets just trade for Russell Westbrook at $4.0 million? To save $700k? Meh.
